Again guys, for those of us who already have a few of the original RAH figures, there's no need to worry.

Just as a short analogy, G1 Optimus Prime was re-relesed several times before. In fact, Target had an exclusive G1 reissue of OP selling for $50 U.S, just a few months back. Now, compare the price of the reissued figure, to the original G1 Prime (from the 80s) which often retails for $1000+ on Ebay.

Original G1 Prime (1980s U.S. Release):

Re-released G1 Prime (2009):

For collectors, reissued stuff isn't worth squat. Of course, if you don't care about the value of a figure, then that's a different story.

Thanks guys, I'm going to wait until BBTS has them for PO.

No problem! I'm definitely going to pick up a Zombie Snake when the pre-orders come in. Hopefully, Sideshow will have it available.

I would really prefer having the original figure, but the price is just way too expensive. There's no way I'm shelling out $500 for Snake :lol.

I'm not exactly sure that this is the best example :lol

Classic Prime was released back when kids actually opened and played with toys, not in the post-1990s world where every other geek keeps everything "MIB", gets it AFA graded, and sticks it in a box never to be seen or heard from again.

A better example here might be something more recently like the DCD 13 inch Green Lantern. The original was going for crazy prices until there was a re-release (with a different costume, no less), and now the original isn't worth nearly as much. If it looks the same, but comes in a different box and possibly has a new, improved body, then I really wouldn't count on the existing figures maintaining their current value by any means.

Back in November, I actually saw a mint AFA graded G1 Prime in an air-tight case go for $8000 on Ebay. In fact, AFA graded G1 Transformers do pop up quite often. So, there are people out there who have been keeping their stuff mint since the 80s. Collectors have been around for a long time man, so it's not only kids who bought the vintage toys.

In the end, it all depends on how much people are willing to pay. True completionists will want to buy the original figures. Though, with re-issued stuff, the market for reselling the originals will be lessened.

So no Croc Cap? BTW, is the re-release figures going to be the exact same as the originals?

Well, Cold War Snake is being released in December :lol. He's not the Croc Cap, but he does have an eyepatch.

I highly doubt that the re-releases will be the same as the originals. Medicom has made improvements to their bodies since 2004. So, the new figures will most likely have the much taller, and more durable 301 bodies (just as Old Snake and Raiden). On the plus side, you'll finally be able to buy 1/6 clothes for your Snakes!

I was referencing the general supply of "mint" toys from the 80s vs. today, not that there were literally no collectors back then. There were some, but many. The still mint figures from those days were as likely discovered from unopened cases or unsold stock stuck in a warehouse as much as being found from the very small handful of "MIB" collectors from that time. Toy collecting then just wasn't what it has become by any stretch of the imagination, and cost = supply + demand.

Ah, I've had it. I think I'm done with Snake for a while. I've been going "Full (Metal Gear) Retard" for a few months now, and I need a break to regain my sanity. After all, sanity is important for my well being.

Goodbye, friends. Goodbye, all, I'm signing off...

Oh hell yes. So glad I didn't plunk down the money for Snake earlier on. I was pretty damn close a few times.

Personally, I'm still taking this news with a grain of salt. It seems a strange decision, and we haven't seen any official confirmation from Medicom. Could be a misunderstanding or mix-up by xl-shop.

could be, but lets not forget that medicom, like sideshow and hot toys, don't really care about aftermarket value.
they care about what they can get for these. and there is a VERY high demand for them, and medicom is filling that demand

in addition, Unlike sideshow, Medicom dosn't do limited edition numbered runs.

kazukijun's local distributor for RAHs is already taking preorders for them.

Just kidding that you are an uncommitted MGS fan if you are not willing to pay $500 for Snake. :D

Nah, it's cool bro. There are some things that even I wouldn't do for Snake. Even though I'd probably give him a sponge bath, and a full-body massage with peppermint scented baby oil (if he were real), some things are pushing it too far - like spending $500 on his figure! :lol

Man, what am I even doing here. I'm supposed to be recovering from my MGS addiction :(...
