Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

Love the faceplate and goggles! That really sells the figure, imo. :rock

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

Thanks Blu Falcon for posting my work here, much appreciated :duff

Hey guys, I'm the creator of this custom and wanted to thank you all very much for your kind words. :D I have an account here, but I have only posted a few times in the past. I just found this thread was over here and wanted to post my most recent update to this figure and thank you all.

I appreciate the critiques as well, I was an avid small Joe and comic collector when I was a kid in the 80s. I hear you guys about Snake Eyes having too much gear to represent the old Commando version. I thought about doing the classic 1982 version exactly, for example omitting the sword, but decided it was a little too plain for my tastes. My version certainly has its roots in the 1982 version, but this is a modern version Snake Eyes as a commando. He definitely has a little Rainbow Six and Metal Gear Solid in him, so a Y-Harness, dynamite, and a Fairbairn-Sykes won't cut it for his missions. This guy uses modern weapons and gear.

I need one of those sweaters!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where can I get one????

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

I. Want. This. Figure. Gimme. :D

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

Yeah, Big Boa had boxing gloves, but Rocky would've had a boxing glove staff bo-staff or something like that. Only other figure I can think of with mits is Balrog from the Street Fighter subset...

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

That really is just an awesome version of Snake Eyes... has a great classic look, yet fits in well with modern/real world military.

Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of you work here :rock

'82 is the classic look for some, although there's a definite spilt amongst fans regarding this and '85 version. This one came wiith the uzi and explosives pouch. The '82 version is probably most famous as the costume he was wearing during Issue 21, which is probably the most well-known issue of the Marvel run.

This is the costume he took on after the formation of Cobra island. It's arguably his most iconic look as many since have had similar traits particularly the visor. Even the new movie version of Snakes this visor, it's about the only thing they got right. He was paired up with Timber and had the falcion sword. If I recall correctly he wore this costume the most in Marvel series.

Shorty after Scarlett "died", for the second time, Cobra Commander sent three assassins after Snake Eyes. Well you can guess how that turned out. This costume is made up from different parts of the costumes worn by the assassins.

This was the one he wore before everything went sour with Ninja Force. The sculpt is great and the head in particular takes him back to his commando roots, goggles and the facemask w/ airholes. The colors on this one were darker in the comic where he didn't look as bad. The real kicker of this figure was the neon red swords and gun.

Ninja Force was another one around '92 or '93 which brough him back to black but he lacked the o-ring and instead had a Super Powers styled squeeze-leg action feature... The picture isn't even worth posting.

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

Thank you guys for the kind words. To answer the question, the face mask is cut down, sculpted, and repainted from the larger mask and goggles that comes on the hasbro 12" figure. Same mask as the ninja force figure.

:)

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

Agree with Mando, the rest of the Snake Eyes figures are junk.

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

That is a fantastic custom! Very well done.

Ah those pics you posted Mando really bring back memories. My old 1985 SE was my favorite figure growing up and to this day my favorite SE figure ever (though the Resolute SE may change that if Hasbro would ever release it).

Ew. Gross.

Re: This IS the Definitive Snake Eyes

That Snake Eyes is indeed definitive.

The more the line went forward, the crazier the color schemes became. Nothing good came out of the later incarnations. thank goodness for the Anniversary line and beyond.
