I wouldn't want chrome dome without gloves, that'd look dumb. I kinda like long gloves on this hooded version we got from SS, he's not really much of throwback to either the '82 or '84 version anyway. My 2 pennies.
Also the only reason that the first CCs had short gloves was that Hasbro used the sculpt for the Officer as well. The Officer pre-dates either CC because the very first chrome dome release was only available as a mail-away or a pack-in, which would've come after the initial series. Anyway, CC was always portayed as havng long gloves both on the show and in the book.

When SS does give us the true original Cobra Commander, I hope he has bare hands and they better have the leggins under the boots as well.

While I was mostly giving Buttmunch a hard time about the gloves, I'm with EVILFACE in believing that card art/figure designs trump all. However the comics and cartoon are a viable source of secondary design options so I wouldn't be totally against a CC with long gloves, but not from SSC. Remember they don't include long gloves to put over their figures hands. They just sculpt the gloves in place of the hands and if they're longer they make the forearms appear longer (like with Darth Maul.) I totally disagree about bare hands looking "dumb", they look great on the card and I think they would on a figure as well.
