@Chainedstream - It was a request by many members in the now scrubbed TW thread (including myself) to pull TW out as a sponsor [and leave the thread intact so others could see the outcome dealing with the dirtbags]. That literally took longer than it should.

After Philip’s sketchy action was posted by other members and wishing a very nasty outcome to Justin due to what happened on the thread, the TW thread was locked and the entire thread was scrubbed into oblivion a not thereafter. Then maybe within a week later, TW was officially taken off as a sponsor and had no presence on this forum itself. I was also not too pleased when the TW thread was wiped out from existence.

I shopped with them for years and they were fine until about the end of 2021/start of 2022, then I started to experience problems with them.

I currently have open orders/pre-orders with them totaling about £2,800 (give or take for the currency exchange), they have "promised" that all of the orders that have released figures will be dispatched by the 16th January, but this is the 3rd or 4th date they have gave me in as many months promising that the items will be shipped.

I've already opened claims with PayPal for all orders that fell within the 180 days and been successful and have open claims with my credit card which so far have said at least half should be recoverable and they are checking the rest.

Having said all of that, they did ship my InArt Gandalf midway through December and he arrived 2 days after.
I'm not advocating for them and they won't get anymore business from myself, but I was very surprised to receive Gandalf that early or at all.

Just if anyone is curious;

Open and released orders:
HT Battle Droid
HT Cad Bane Deluxe
HT Amazing Spider-Man (Garfield)
HT Friendly Spider-Man (Tobey)
HT Batman (Pattinson)

Pre-orders:
InArt Aragorn
InArt Batman
HT Anakin EP2
HT Padme EP2
HT C-3PO
HT Mantis
HT Mace Windu
HT Super Battle Droids x2

I have a 2nd batch Hot Toys Robert Pattinson Batman preorder with them from March of 2022. Am I pretty much screwed? Wish I knew about TW’s reputation back then.
I would start to try claim back your money through your payment method if you can, as you never know if you will actually get the item or not.

At least if you get your money back, you can then order from somewhere else more trustworthy.

I get that, probably wasn’t the only one who pressured the admins to remove TW from site. Sent all mods my concerns regarding TW’s marketing on this site and what damages TW has inflicted onto our community. Here’s the response from Yoda:

Get in thouch with TW Customer “Service”. Did you pay it off with a credit or debit card?
If credit card, get in touch with your credit institute/issuer. Open a claim, that will get things moving.

Unfortunately I paid with paypal. I emailed TW customer service a few days ago and haven’t heard back yet. I’ll try contacting my credit card company soon if I don’t hear back at all. This sucks.

It's worth trying your credit card company if you used that with your PayPal, a few of my purchases were through PayPal but using my credit card and past the 180 days PayPal cover.

As @ronnieb555 said, get in touch with your credit card company and explain your situation. Be sure to include what you have heard on this forum and seen on Trustpilot (like one-star-rating to date). PayPal will just dismiss it and blame it on their "180 day window"

Ok thanks guys. I will try paypal and my CC company and see what they say.

Remember the good old days when pre-orders were a rare thing?? I miss that. Harder to scam people when you aren't waiting months/years between payment and release. The shift of the hobby from orders to pre-orders certainly helped manufacturers but it opened the door for an entire scammer industry that was at first just ebay scammers but as the years progressed actual retailers. Toyswonderland is just the latest. I recall the MothersBasement fiasco which was very much the same situation (stringing people along, allowing pre-orders to remain open fir a long time at a bargain price while they had no intention of getting stock to send out etc etc). All this has happened before and will happen again. We need to shift away from pre-orders or shorten the pre-order to release window to a standardised 3 months (as much as that will hurt manufacturers it will protect buyers)

I've been waiting on the Delorean for over a year now. I was able to get my money back from the shipping payment by filing a dispute with my credit card company, but the original product payment was too old. They denied my claim on that one.

The 180-day window is not just a PayPal thing, that's for all payment processors. For most credit cards you only have 120 days. So, in essence, PayPal's protection is more generous, giving you an extra two months. In the past, I typically avoided paying with PayPal, because I was aware of the 180-day window, but I thought you had more protection paying with a CC. That is not correct.

I learned this lesson the hard way. When I placed my order with TW back in February 2022, I was aware of how they did business, but their reputation wasn't as bad as it is now. I figured even if they never shipped, my CC company would give me my money back, but no, there's a limit to how long you can wait. And it's not as long as you'd think.

That sucks, hopefully they eventually turn themselves around and send it out to you.

Here in the UK I've seen on a few Facebook groups that a few people have been successful reclaiming their payments that were made after the 120 days due to the amount of money that they had spent with TW, a few even went back to payments made in 2021.

I'm holding out hope that I will also be one of the lucky few to reclaim all of my spending with them, but I should be able to reclaim about 50% and still awaiting a decision about the rest.

Hi if you UK google ''section 75 time limit'' it will show ''no limit'' & links to a page that fully explains credit card refunds the chargebacks & section 75 & includes template letters etc . i used this to claim back around £4500 that was well outside 160 days ( which is from the promised delivery date not purchase date so always hassle the scammer because the more he promises ''next month'' keeps helping your date move backwards. another link here to info Problems with goods and services: section 75 and chargeback always use a credit card, take screenshots of the advert ,checkout screen & any seller emails you think its a nuisance but when you see a huge refund you realise its the best paid work you ever did . cheers ian.

This is the exact route I am taking, I opened multiple section 75 claims with my credit card company, one for each purchase that I had with them.

They came back and asked for more information initially as I had all of my purchases over payment plans, which they thought was a subscription service so I submitted more evidence that they were payment plans for pre-order items. Sent screenshots of the lack of communication via social media from them and also my email chains that go back months.

Waiting to hear back from them now, but so far said about 50% of my spending should be able to be recovered.

Sorry for the multiple posts, forgot to add was your £4,500 claim with TW or just an example of when you used section 75?
