Is this movie that bad? You guys almost convinced me it was good. But going by the 'comparable to' list, I'll pass on this.

Any movie that makes the same list as Battleship is just something I have zero interest in. Who the hell even remembers to bring that movie up into any conversation?

I only brought up battleship because someone a few threads back said that the trailer made him think that it was the same kind of film.

Its not a masterpiece. Its got some plot holes and the logic of time travel is goofy (like most time travel films) Its final 30 min of a 2 hr and 20 min film gets a bit corny but it was still a quality picture that for free on Amazon Prime was well worth it and I would have been happy seeing it in the theaters.

Jye's inner child has died.. He only likes dark movies like Zack Snyder presents Cyborg's Justice League :lol

IDK how you would feel about it. Its dumb but its far from the films I mentioned dumb.

Your taste tends to align wit mine but I am a sucker for a good monster movie.

For the record I always thought ID4 sucked the very first time I watched it. As well as the other films I mentioned.

I have a soft spot for Skyline because everyone hated it.. But I just watched it again and have no idea what Stealth scene Jye is talking about... So the film has no lasting impression on me :lol

I'd re-watch this with someone who hasn't seen it, but films I re-visit on my own are relatively few and far between. ESB, ROTLA, An American Werewolf in London, Aliens ... The Lost Boys ... all of which I likely won't revisit for some years now since they've been viewed recently.

I'm more likely to re-watch specific scenes than entire films.

I almost created a thread about what brings us back to watch our fav movies... All of yours makes my list of favs that I come back to time and time again.

Except Lost Boys... I like it alright but I find it better to put on when I go to bed at night as it puts me to sleep fairly quickly.

It's much better than the compared to list. It's definitely worth watching, but you are unlikely to place it amongst the classics of the genre. In 2021 it is a refreshing change from the agenda genre movies that are becoming the norm.

I like Edge of Tomorrow alot... so if this is anywhere close to that, then that is saying alot.

I like edge of Tomorrow a lot also... Now I have not watched it in probably three years but I have seen it a few times.

Its not as smart, directed, or as good as that film.. But it reminded me of that film... As well as many others :lol The action in it was solid.

If Edge of Tomorrow had these Aliens I think I would have it in my top 10 sci fi for sure. Not that I disliked them.. I just thought they were a bit disappointing

I say give the first hour a chance. If you are not into it at all by then then turn it off as you wont like the rest.

I thought the trailer to TW looked blah but found it to be a good popcorn flick.

Film had a little bit of heart to it also.

Yeah.. I feel bad that I even mentioned the other films.. I was just trying to say that those are the type of films that are one and done with me. I'll watch this one when I am in my Earth vs Aliens mood along with Edge of Tomorrow as well as both War of the Worlds films.

Ah, I get it now... its like a longing for "these types" of movies they haven't made for 20 years because of the MCU. That makes sense.

Its a nice throwback for sure.

Basically I went in blind except for the trailer that did nothing for me.

It had great monsters in it.. That goes a long way for me. :lol

Bad alien design kills a lot of otherwise pretty OK movies. Edge of Tomorrow is definitely one where the story is way better than the crazy aliens borrowed from Starship Troopers.

I was hooked after this :lol

I think I like EOT Aliens better then the bugs of Starship Troopers..

Actually I have never been a huge fan of that one.

I don't like the Doc Ock thing there... but the Blade vampire looks... well, derivative still.

Damn man, how hard is it to come up with something fresh? Hardest thing in the world actually.

I king of get what you are saying with the Blade thing.. But it really looks nothing like it in the movie.. No extendable jaws or anything. They are just very vicious creatures.. They don't sneak up on you they just go full force at its prey.

The Doc ock things.. They were my least fav part. More because of their ultimate functionality then the look.

These things were like part Cat / Spider / scorpion / and teeth :lol

I dont know I was really happy with the look and more then that I liked they way they moved and behaved.

Well, people seemed impressed with this movie -- and likely a lot of that is the creatures -- so that alone motivates me to give it a try.

I just hope its not Jurassic 4 with Pratt and all. Does he still do his usual schtick? I love him as Star-Lord but not so much as a generic action hero.

He plays it more serious for sure.

A joke or two hear or that but never really during any action.

Give it a shot.. What's the worst that can happen? You dont like it and you argue with me on this thread for days :lol
