I thought this was actually really good.

The "professional" critics reviews I've read lead me to believe they either didn't actually watch the movie and assumed it would be crap because it's a prime original or they take their jobs too seriously and they're afraid they'll get made fun of in the industry for giving a movie like this a good review.
Been seeing some comments that critics don’t like Chris Pratt because of his Christian beliefs and that he didn’t join the rest of the Avengers and vocally support Biden, and this he must have been a Trump supporter.

I have read a review or two were that seems to be the case as well as some that just seem to hate on Pratt.

As for who he voted for. Nobody knows. He stays away from talking politics.

It was a good popcorn flick. I can understand some of the critical response. Predictable and some very corny scenes. But a 53% on RT?

Clearly is a hit job against Pratt because he didn’t bend the knee. Far-lefts seeks to control everything....

The reviewer on IGN gave it a 3 and pretty much the whole review is her talking smack about Pratt.

People are calling her out over it in the comments citing other social media posts that show she clearly has it out for him and just wanted to take the chance to trash anything he was involved with.

But she also said he was great in other roles no?

That doesn't really mean much though. Kinda like when a racist person claims they aren't racist because they have a black friend or someone says "no offense" before saying something completely offensive.

While I wasn’t offended by that review it was a pretty harsh review no doubt about that.

I watched the movie I didn’t agree with her assessment on Pratt.

That being said while I don’t regret watching it I will never revisit this movie ever again, Aliens, Predator, The Thing it isn’t.

The alien was better than from Stanger Things and A Quiet Place though i’ll give it that but taking them out was too inconsistent.

Throat or stomach only people use all of their ammo without success but a guy takes them out with a saw to the head armor.

Great popcorn flick with a solid cast, good script, cool creature design and lots of action. Sure it had a pretty predictable storyline, pseudo science logic, and the heroes all would have died at least 50 times in real life, but still gets a 7.5/10 from me.

But what IS ALIEN, Predator, and The Thing? I mean I find it hard to compare any films to that.

This was IMO leaps and bounds better than films like ID4, Battle LA, Battleship, Justice League (SC), and Skyline.

It was more in line with Edge of Tomorrow and War of the World in Terms of Quality.

Yes it had huge Plot holes and some inconstancy throughout but it was fun for sure. The last 30 min was The Thing meets Alien in terms of plot points but I had a lot of fun with it. Some of the Action set pieces were lots of fun. And I loved the creature design and the way they acted.

I will revisit this film for sure.

PS - ;) about JL SC :lol

It was a pretty harsh review, but I don't think she was wrong about Pratt's acting - it was rather one-note. I also agree that the "send everyone 30 years into the future to fight a war with no training or intel" was a pretty ridiculous plot device. Hell, it would take our leaders 30 years just to make a decision lol. But once you get past that it was a fun ride. It could have been a lot worse. At least they didn't defeat the aliens by uploading a virus to their ship's onboard computer.

It was better than those, ID4 does not hold up does it and ID4 sequel was trash.

B-LA was such a huge disappointment.

As bad as Skyline was the stealth fighter infiltration scene from it was more exciting than anything from TW.

I'm unlikely to watch it again but it was a ton of fun that I don't regret.

Like many things in life ...
Rewatching movies is the reward for a movie being great.

An enjoyable but dumb movie that is ultimately forgettable is no reward at all.

A Quiet Place 1 and 2 are also forgettable for me the premise has run its course.

I'd re-watch this with someone who hasn't seen it, but films I re-visit on my own are relatively few and far between. ESB, ROTLA, An American Werewolf in London, Aliens ... The Lost Boys ... all of which I likely won't revisit for some years now since they've been viewed recently.

I'm more likely to re-watch specific scenes than entire films.

Is this movie that bad? You guys almost convinced me it was good. But going by the 'comparable to' list, I'll pass on this.

Any movie that makes the same list as Battleship is just something I have zero interest in. Who the hell even remembers to bring that movie up into any conversation?

Could you pick worse films? Maybe add Battlefield Earth too.
:lol

Ah come on... They are better than Battlefield Earth.. I used those as example because those to films to me are watch it once and never return.

My ultimate point was that IMO TW was on the same level as Edge of Tomorrow and War of the Worlds.. Films that I enjoy watching again every few years or so.
