It’s literally impossible to please everyone, so I just shrug. If this Darkseid was exactly modeled after Kirby’s to a tee, guaranteed a lot of fans/collectors would be bugged by that too.

He’s huge in the movie so the Uxas figure will be massive. I’m thinking just Uxas first.

This is one of those cases where apparently the buzz in Hollywood from those who have seen the movie that it is excellent appears not to be deceptive. If this is right, you can kind of tell from the language used to describe it. Like one critic saying it takes superhero films to a Shakespearean level, another calling it the best DC movie to date (implication: taking the crown from TDK for mainstream fans). I mean, obviously we?re about to find out for ourselves in less than a week. And the critic embargo lifts this coming Tuesday evening. But anyway the buzz thus far is really encouraging. This thing may blow up as must-see. Let?s hope this is the case for us as HT collectors, since if it?s a really big success it means HT will have little choice but to give us figures.

And ngl these characters are gonna look incredible on the shelf. Uxas, Desaad, Steppenwolf in particular should be stunning.

The thoughts of multiple figures makes me really hope that a S2 (JL2) can be somehow possible. I think that's the only way HT will go deeper.

That said, they didn't even go deeper than Thanos for Marvel, so that's a pretty bad precedent. However there were a lot more "good side" characters to be made for Marvel. So perhaps that helps the case for JL evil characters ???

Knowing HT we'll probably get nothing :lol

Yeah, good point re: villains. Got a bit carried away. I should have phrased it “would” be stunning.

I expect it to be better than the theatrically released film for sure but I'll be amazed if it can live up to that kind of praise.

Being "better than the theatrical version" is a very low bar to clear, and while I certainly think it will be a more coherent and consistent vision of a movie, I think anyone expecting a Shakespearian culturally defining superhero masterpiece of a film needs to reset their expectations.

Just sad we never got to Hal Jordan Green Lantern. Interesting that his first appearance would've been in Knightmare.

The thing I dont know if they were expecting to introduce a green lantern movie in between JL1 and JL2 and 3 I can recall if they ever had that plan I think they wanted a cyborg movie but what about the rest aquaman 2 and batman were did they fix in all this.

I really hope this is not they last send off for the Zack Snyder universe it seems WB is content to reboot they whole thing and who know were they are going .

I agree. Even though I've supported the cut since the movement began, I'm not sure it will be the best CBM ever. I'm more than sure I'll love it, I don't doubt that one bit. But idk if it will top Infinity War & Endgame for me, and I'm way more a DC fan than Marvel. I don't even own any mcu merch.

With that said, I happened to peruse some comments on IG and it's shocking to me that there are ppl who STILL think this is just a recut/extended cut of Josstice League rather than a whole different movie.

Yeah I've seen a lot of that too. Although what's worse are the trolls who simply type "ZSJL will suck as much as Josstice League". Probably also don't realise it is different, judging something before they have even seen it and purely negative for the sake of being negative. What losers !

For anyone still perplexed by the aspect ratio, have a look at this short BvS Knightmare clip in full screen mode.

Essentially this:

It's almost a bit funny, that by leaning hard into the IMAX ratio, he's basically reverting back to the old 4:3 tv ratio.

I really don't think people really realize just how much of the movie Whedon reshot. I've read that the theatrical cut was somewhere between 60% and 90% Whedon. My guess would be closer to the 60% range (just judging from the cinematography—Whedon and Snyder could not be more different directors, in terms of how they stage and shot things), but that is still a staggering amount.

Edit: The original cinematographer says that the theatrical cut only contained about 10% of what he shot for Snyder

Just a dumb amount of money to add to the cost when you've shot most of the movie and yet don't think it will be very successful anyway. You know there will be Youtubers comparing all of the shots to Whedon's.

We'll have a better idea next week, but based on all the preview clips a lot of what we saw in the first JL will also be in the Snyder Cut. I think in some cases Whedon edited, repurposed and/or recontextualized Snyder's original footage, and that's the reason your seeing low numbers like 10% being floated about. Even if that's not the case, that 10% of what that cinematographer shot for Snyder was from enough footage to deliver @ 4 hours of finished film, which makes it 20% of the 2017 release's running time. So that would be 80% Whedon on the high end, which seems more realistic given the compressed time period after Snyder departed. So I think your 60% guess is probably pretty close.

I wonder how many people while watching this will be hitting "start/stop" on their phone's stopwatch app for the footage they've seen before. :lol

Well, if Jim Lee wasn't just talking **** at DC Fandome last year when he laid out the multiverse model, then the implication is that we can have both. "Canon" is meaningless in a multiverse design. We'll have separate parallel universes.

We can have the Snyderverse continue on HBO Max, and the "DCEU" would continue at WB Pictures.

Well it goes without saying that there will be plenty of critics and fans that trash it as well. There are people that feel BvS is a true masterpiece and there are those that think it’s the worst movie ever made. But this might have a chance to be a widely liked movie. We?ll see!
