Another thing that is important is the expression you create on the sculpt with the placement of the eyes. With a sculpt that has a pretty neutral expression, in the rest of the face, the placement of the eyes can totally change the sculpts. I always try to get the intense look to my custom Indy figures. It is what I call the false bravado expression. I have went for that with my latest custom Indy.

Nice! I guess that was why HT went with PERS, but, it made the heads look godawful and I'm glad they eventually saw sense and dropped it.

Thanks both of you Rog guys.

I have been thinking about maybe experimenting with some of my spare heads and trying to use some Sculpey to make the eyes narrower. Indy squints quite a bit throughout the movies as these pictures show. I might even be able to achieve that kind of look just by painting over part of the eyes. It should give him even more of a hard look I reckon.

Edit Update: Also of course another way would be not to paint the full circle of the eye and just do the bottom or the middle without the top or bottom. The smiling sculpt is a perfect example of that. It is what I do for most of my angry sculpts like John Wick or Mad Max.

I also think the direction they look can really change a sculpt. I often like to have them looking off to one side. I got a life sized Yoda bust a few years back, most would have had him looking dead ahead, but, I had him looking up and to one side and it added so much character to the head.

Yes I agree. The urge is always to try and have them looking straight on but I find sometimes if you have the sculpt looking just slightly to one side it can really make it pop. I did that with the Sideshow Raiders head that is in my profile pic. He is ever so slightly looking off centre.

He looks good, which hat is he wearing?

Gotta get rid of these dumb stickers on the glass but I got me a detolf! Finally. Now, I can have the boys respectfully displayed.AD548A45-058B-43FD-8F3F-A95BE105CB2F.jpeg

I'm not sure! I got it with a custom Indy I bought awhile back. I recently switched out the hat for the MJ Choi one but I think I will switch it back. The hat works well with both the Sideshow and Treasure Hunter. I am sure one of the more experienced members on here could identify it.

EDIT: I have just tried it with one of my MJ Choi heads and it fits on that as well as on the sculpt I painted earlier.

@TheRogster
Looks great. Next you need a Last Crusade version! Ha ha.

Do many people have a map room Indy? Curious what head sculpt you're using. Anyone have pictures of some of the different sculpts available in the Tanis gear?

Looking back at the pic with all the heads, it could be off an Inigo V1.

Do you have a Treasure Hunter TonTon? It works PERFECTLY for Tanis! The sculpt and paint are great and the "head plug" (where the hat would typically sit, gives it some "lift" to elevate the turban.
