Anyone know what kind of fabric the Sideshow robes are made of? Just trying to figure out if regular RIT dye would work or if needs the synthetic stuff.

I don't. I can't tell what any of the 1/6 scale companies use, but in my experience, as long as youre working with the liquid rit bottles and near boiling dye bath temps, regular rit dye works just as well as dyemore.

Yep there we go. Excellent pics of the SS Jawas guys. I particularly love the one with the leather over jacket and stitched holster for his blunderbuss.

It's quite the contrast. You really need to try hard to make these guys look bad whereas with the HT it's the opposite.

What you mean like this ?? (sarcasm)

So these don't look screen accurate to you ???

My statement was that the HT version looked better. I didn't mention screen accuracy at all. The cloth looks to be a better material and the hoods look nicer. I also don't like the fraying/fur on cuffs of the SS version.

Since you mentioned screen accuracy though, no, they don't look "screen accurate" to me. The color is too dark, the heads look too small, they have seams running down the middle of the hoods, and they don't have enough sand on them.

Knowing HT and their penchant for stitching everything in place, it'll probably be a nuisance to take the robe off without undoing some of that in order to dye the robe.

That's exactly what I was referring too.

Even well futzed they don't look nearly as good to my eye. Only thing SS has going for it is the weathering on the leather and the color, though I still think they're too dark.

Yes yes we are all aware of your views from the HT thread. It's great you enjoy the HT and I'm hoping it's better in hand but it really does look like an overpriced wrong coloured toy with a laundry list of inaccuracies and issues. I'll give you the head seam on the SS in incorrect but you hardly notice that on the shelf and they are visually superior in almost every other way.

SS (deservedly) gets a lot of flak for it's figures, but in this case HT dropped the ball where SS did a fantastic job. Credit where credit is due.

Did I reach my allowance on posts comparing these two products?

I don’t think Sideshow did a fantastic job, especially when they continue to stubbornly use floppy bodies that can’t hold a pose. I gave them credit in their weathering.
