Hot Toys R2-D2 Deluxe Version

Trying to justify on getting this. I own the sideshow version. Seems like this is the one to get if Hot Toys make another version besides the ST. Or should I wait for the PT version??? Hmmmm

I have the sideshow deluxe and I have to say this is a huge improvement. Sitting side by side you can tell slightly the quality but the real difference is when you pick up the HT. You can feel the quality and craftsmanship. Both are great and if you only need one they are both good options but now that I have both I can display the SS one with the ROTJ drinking tray.

At least judging by how it looked next to my higher-quality Tama 3PO.

Thanks for the info. Was there any hint they will be making a PT version with thrusters?

They are supposed to get more in January. I had to return mine because of a defect and they said a replacement would come in then.

One of the two large front facing panel doors that opens and closes was poorly aligned and left a large space gap between the door and the body.

They also reduced the shipping by a third for the two I ordered, which is unusual.

Must be.

They once said it was cheaper to send two figures separately when I asked long ago. Probably won't be as lucky with the two Krennics.

They also usually increase shipping a little when the invoice arrives. If you look on their site for the same figure when it's in stock and check the shipping it's always the same as the original quote - which makes it look like they're overcharging for those that pre-order. But they off-set it by increasing the price of the figure instead.


The quote for each Artoo was HK$ 240, and the actual was HK$ 160.

I got the Sideshow Deluxe R2 back in 2015 for AUD$250 shipped. Getting the new HT R2 from Pop using $50 in pennies will make it AUD$350 shipped. I hope it's worth the extra $100 in quality improvements!

I also used $50 in pennies but stacked that with their early bird pre-order discount for an extra $40 off I'm confident it's $60 better but wish it was cheaper.
