I bought the regular edition because I knew exactly how I wanted him posed which is standing. I was never going to use the chair.

Same here. The expression to me just never fit him seated on the throne. Based on the expression they gave the sculpt, I always envisioned posing him from day one standing up with his hands slightly raised in front of his torso. Still haven’t changed it.

Rewatched Jedi last night and now I?ve got the bug for an Emperor figure. I?m not seeing too many standard versions out there so if anybody?s trying to unload let me know!

I'm going to be selling mine. It's actually the one from the deluxe set that never was posed. I had the standard and then bought the deluxe. Still have the box and brown shipper

I got the regular. The throne is cool and all but not worth a 1:1 price for a 1:6 chair, was an easy pass.

I got the throne because an Emperor Needs His Throne! The regular is clearly not an emperor.

I have the regular, and the nameplate on the base clearly reads “Emperor Palpatine.”

I wanted to get the throne for the options it offers. You want Emperor standing, no problem. You want him sitting in his throne, again no problem. One thing about this figure I don't like besides the weird hood stitching (but that can be fixed) is the lightning effect, that is so brittle, I already broke a couple branches when unpacking.

Yeah I wish I would have taken the time and rationalized like you did. I thought to myself "I'll never need his throne". Big mistake! That's unfortunate about your lightning accessory. I haven't had you problem with it breaking, my problem is its to dam* long! I can't use it with him in my Detolf unless you put him in the corner. Since I didn't buy the throne, I was going to display him with the lightning. I thought about just buying a second set of lightning effects and cutting them down. Has anyone actually tried this?

I knew if I passed on the throne I would regret it. That's a must buy accessory unlike most of the worthless accessories that stay in the box for most hot toys figures. It's like captain America's shield, Thor's hammer etc. You must have them or the character is not complete.

Yeah I'm a dumba**. I didn't think I needed it in the beginning and couldn't justify the extra $90 but now I'm regretting it and buying one now will cost much more than the original $90.

That's exactly the reason why I went for the deluxe edition, and I'm happy I did

It's such an iconic piece of accessory, which accompanied Palpatine since prequel trilogy:

History repeating itself here, it was same with Sideshows Emperor and Throne Environment. People who dismissed the Throne later realised it was something they needed for their Emperor and ended up shelling out Upwards of $300 for the throne if they wanted it badly enough.
That's Why this time round Hot Toys deluxe offering was a no brainer.

And the Hot Toys throne, though still inaccurate, is better and more accurate than the Sideshow version.

I don't think I will ever want the throne. If I had two royal guards and lots of space, that would be a different story.

My sentiments as well. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t feel the expression they gave the sculpt is really suited for him sitting on the throne. Ever since day one, I had the pose in mind that I wanted him posed in that I felt matched the sculpt expression, and it didn’t involve him sitting on the throne.

Well everyone has their reason for not purchasing x,y or z in a set. I love having the throne in my collection, i had the ssc versions before and felt the upgrade to HT was worth it.

Like I said I knew I?d only display him standing.
