Sideshow 1/6 C-3PO

A solid sculpt on this fella.. Though I like the portrait a bit more on the TN diecast, I think this figure feels a little more like the actor in the suit. The slight bow in the legs drives this home. I've added a brighter gold paint and weathering to help it along, as well. I must get around to weathering that R2 one of these years...

This guy it's very expensive right now, but someone in Mexico is selling me C-3PO, for a very good price.

The main thing: it has a broken piece.

Is it easy to fix/glue it? Or should I pass?

I used True Metal AK Interactive pigment Gold primarily. I did not strip the original paint, but lightly scuffed it with very fine sanding pads. I then applied different combinations of techniques to get the results. Essentially, I brushed/stippled/sponged on the pigment over the entire surface, let dry and polished. Areas like the left forearm has more silver pigments, so I mixed until happy with the color. I finally weathered the surface with aluminum/gold combinations and random application to simulate wear and tear...

I wouldn?t buy it broken personally. Sideshow still has this figure in stock. Not sure where you?re at, but I imagine if you look you could probably find one that?s mint.

If it's an easy fix, he would buy it because of the good price and then fix it by himself.

Depending on how "good" the price is, I would take it into consideration, too.

Eh I still would pass good price or not. Those pistons are fragile as is. You could probably just leave it, but I sometimes feel like mine could break if I move it wrong. So having one broken already and the fact that it?s a pretty small area to try and fix, I wouldn?t want to mess with it.

This is really a figure to buy and not mess much with after it?s posed. Plus like I mentioned this is still in stock and regularly is eligible for discounts plus ships free. If a person really wants it Sideshow is the better route to take if possible in my opinion.

After those that inquired were told "the thumbs are correct and were changed from the prototype". Guess they decided to change them back. Silly SS.

And they appear to be a little smaller; better in scale, as well.

Wow the figure does look much better now. Head still isn't quite right, but the overall proportions seem a lot more accurate.

Hopefully sooner or later Hot Toys will make a 3PO. I was content with the Sideshow R2, but the new Hot Toys one blows it away massively and I feel the same will happen when they do 3PO. After that I’ll probably relegate this 3PO to the damaged arm look.
