Was this supposed to be humerous or do you have a legit reason for not helping someone out with printing? It's not like they are printing your part.

Is this a 3D printing forum now ? As far as I've seen Jas has given plenty of information out on his production process. Something which he doesn't have to do. And with other competitors out there he doesn't have to give all his knowhow away here.

Exactly. I cannot wait to see the first painted parts or first assembled vehicle. Not too much longer now.

My new large rotational caster is all welded up and part assembled, and will finish off the last few bits this week ready for the first cast the weekend....fingers crossed.

Whilst all that was going on (dare I say the trigger word?) I let my 3d printer work away in the background creating the new design centre console details:

Further up the thread I was asked why I would limit this run to just 30...the short answer is...our models & dioramas are in very high demand and we have a pretty full order book to keep us busy for the next 3 years so we only focus on high quality movie accurate builds in low numbers for you guys....the serious collector.

As a rule we usually limit each build to a total of 20 but as the demand has been so overwhelming for the Speeder we decided to up it by 50%.

We also have a large number of extremely patient and loyal customers that have been waiting (some years) for their one-off builds so really need to get these completed.

That "is this a 3D printing forum now?" argument is as thin as a fly's fart, as such frontiers are crossed on SSF on a ****ing daily and happy basis, particularly on this thread, right from its beginning. Clutch has a right to respectfully ask, as much as Jas has a right to respectfully say nothing. And please: nobody is nobody's self-appointed lawyer on here. Bigots have a very peculiar tendency to self-appointment, false entitlement and moral authority (always with arguments as thin as a fly's fart).

This is wrong on so many levels, I wouldn't know where to begin. You can ask 3D printer questions, yes, and Jas can choose not to answer them. When clutch stepped in to a conversation he wasn't a part of, with a condescending reply, defending someone we didn't know needed defending, clutch then became the problem. And for you to now try and defend his terrible forum behavior? JEEEZUS! Talk about two wrongs not making a right!

This quoted post of your though, is SO ironic, in ways you'll never appreciate, that it's clear these words will fall on deaf ears… to both you AND clutch. (I can't wait for you to double down with a reply though! �� )

To the rest of you wondering what clutches outburst was all about; judging from his post history, he too is a 3D printer enthusiast and you can make of that what you will (I personally think he thinks he's the post police and thought he could hand out tickets).

Jas ISN'T making kits that we build. He's shipping out completed sets. He also has competition and has shown he prefers secrecy. If you two thread derailers want 3DP info, take it offline and maybe he'd help (though I really hope he doesnt now). [emoji6]

I didn't know this was an invite only thread. i spend more time on a forum where people share info (rpf) and that statement just struck me as elitist. I sincerely wanted to know why he keeps printing techniques a secret. This is the last I'll say on this and thread unsubscribed. Sorry op for the derail.

In a way a little off topic but defo related to this thread as I'm building this primarily to cast the main bodies and thrusters for this speeder. all-you-need-to-know-about-rotocasting

I'm sure someone asked me to share this build on here so here you go:

As many of you can tell I'm no welder but I'm pretty awesome at grinding & filling









I'm hoping to get it finished tonight after work, weather & traffic permitting.

I'm now on the hunt for an old motorised tread mill or possibly a mobility scooter as a donor for the motor and speed controllers.

Chaps, am so busy I may or may not be able to answer your questions or may even have simply missed your post as I don't read back through the thread that often, so please don't take offense if I don't respond as this isn't personal.

Feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to respond as and when I can.

Yeah totally. It's been so great watching things develop in this thread....

I have utmost faith in Pete's painting skills and am sure this is going to look epic. (no pressure Pete ). It's also been great that Jas has listened to and made small modifications according to our popular suggestions. A real collaborative effort.

The plan is to get the first few bodies and thrusters over to Pete for test painting on 28th as long as I can finish my roto-caster, then cast all of the other large parts.
Once set up this will be a fairly rapid process as casting should only take 20 - 30mins each so should be able to get 3 or 4 done each night

Once these are with Pete I'll work on the smaller details individually, this way I can focus on ensuring the quality of each part is at a high enough level to ship.
We have decided that the cockpit will need to be individually handmade as painting would be difficult if cast in one, plus some details was being lost in the casting process.

There's also something special planning for the dash and just waiting for them to be delivered, this is also why I am changing the cockpit slightly to accommodate

Side grilles need reworking to allow for the deeper front nose
Bonnet & rear circuitry details will be resin printed

The damaged engine we'll use real wire, and a few other resin parts to make it look as close to the movie prop as possible
I've not finalised the right shaped screen yet and will be one of the last things I do along with the base / stand

I think that's it, doesn't sound much when reading it back but there is an insane amount of work involved in recreating something so iconic and of this quality.

Didn't get back home until later last night, so was unable to make any progress on the roto-caster or other builds
