I was watching Shin again last night. I really hate the Japanese-American woman who wants to be president one day. She is the worst. The first couple forms look pretty bad CGI-wise, but the big, hulking version in the helicopter face off scene looks great. Pretty weird.

Anyway, I'm planning on taking my mom out to the movies to see King of the Monsters tomorrow. I'll give them a few more of my dollars before this franchise dies. I hope this doesn't hurt the writer/director's reputation too much. I really love Trick R Treat and Krampus.

It’s too bad about Godzilla’s Box office. It’s so weird that every new Jurassic Park goes through the roof but these films can’t find its way to the same audience.

Yeah good point. I wonder where the disconnect is for the majority of audiences.

In the US Japan is only taken seriously when it involves automobiles, electronics (tech intelligence) and the art of Sushi making otherwise they are viewed as over reacting head bowing giggling over worked cartoon loving wimpy small yellow weird men with little weenies.

Godzilla = Virgins in the US.

In a country built on military manhood, cowboys, gun ownership and american football Godzilla is no bueno lol

I still like The Lost World and think that if was not for a certain gymnastic scene this film would get a little more love.

I love how every bad thing that happens in the film can all be linked back to vince Vaughn’s Earths First Bastard Character . were it not for him a lot of human characters would still be alive and that includes the people in San Diego... what is it with these bleeding hearts in monster movies

Say what you will about them, but in the Jurassic films, humans are the focus of the stories and the dinosaurs are a plot device moving it along, whereas it’s reverse with Godzilla. Add to that, dinosaurs were real so there’s a different appeal to them than fictional monsters.

I personally love both, but I understand Godzilla is not for everyone. I’m grateful the franchise still continues after over 60 years, even if it’s not as big a box office success as some may like.

Maybe the integrity of the first film is carrying the weight of the franchise. Godzilla doesn’t really have that integrity in the eyes of the general audience. Also JP has the benefit of more like able humans. Goldblum himself is an internet meme-worthy icon.
