Great post and while Godzilla was indeed king we also got a halfway decent Rodan, KG and Mothra.

Oh yes they were great.. Icing on the cake for sure.

I read somewhere that Godzilla films are not as big in Japan as one might think.. Not anymore anyways.

Its weird as I also heard that Godzilla is like our Mickey Mouse over there.. Of course If Mickey got a new 200 million dollar movie over here I don't think it would do very well either

Poor box office for a movie you like can be a blessing. It means that sequels can't ever drag it through the mud. I'm glad you'll always have this film and I look forward to seeing it hopefully by next weekend.

It was #1 in Japan, but it only made $8 million U.S. dollars. Japan isn't actually a huge market for American movies. For comparison, China's was $70 million.

Yeah. Mechs and kaiju arent as big as people imagine. Pacific Rim for instance, only made like 2 mil it’s at its opening

Lol, I first read your opening sentence as "I would love some Captain America Godzilla sequels" lol. I thought whoa finally someone to give Cap a challenge.

I think I'll like it. I'm one of the few who enjoyed G14 but still wished it had more monster mayhem and this film certainly looks like it has that!

Looks like Gigan, Kumonga and even Gamera or a Gameraesque turtle monster were planned as some of the awakening titans. I’m glad Gigan was scrapped as he definitely deserves more than just being a random cameo. It’s still cool to see the potential direction they had planned for his design. Sadly we’ll never get to see more.
