I was just browsing through some old threads here and found that there was originally supposed to be a director's cut of Age of Ultron released on Blu-ray in the UK, then Joss Whedon confirmed that this wouldn't happen. Later, US Amazon started talking about the release of an "extended cut".

Was the director's cut ever actually released on any format? Are the "director's cut" and "extended cut" even the same thing? Any info would be appreciated.:)

Disney would never allow this.

LOL, that figures. :lol

Same goes for the superior original cut of Rogue One before Edwards got locked out of post (and subsequently Gilroy was hited to reshoot 30% of the movie).

The suits don't want anyone to see what they butchered with their meddling.

How exactly would you know the first cut of Rogue One is superior?

Nope. I know a guy who watched a rough cut. He didn't even work on the film. Just someone who knows someone. From his description the third act was much better. Dude confirmed its basically a different movie.

I'd love to hear about the original superior third act. Please describe it in detail.

Oh, Captain America too? Okay yeah that would have definitely been better.

He like, dies, like, as Civil War intended! By Crossbones, only that its a ruse and it's a brainwashed Carter sent by Faustus and set up by Sin, and all of them are working with the Red Skull, who's trapped in the body of that Russian businessman who wants to make Russia Great again and, they use a cosmic bullet & gun built by Doctor Doom and... uh, what were we talking about?

Yeah giving movie Cap a fake death so he could go to another dimension, grow a beard and have a son like the gimmicky comics that took place after the CW storyline would have been awesome. Hopefully we learn that something like that happened to Logan in his extended DP2 cameo.

You mean the trailers we all watched right? :)

The truth is... weirder. Cap got trapped in time and got to relive everything past D-Day. Then Doom & Zola put the Skull's brain in his body, brought back Cap from... the timestream, and he and Cap had a mental battle while Skull!Cap was fighting Bucky!Cap in the Lincoln Memorial. And they got there in seconds, from Latveria... After that, we had Commander Rogers. Bearded Cap was in Remender's run which was... kinda good, all things considered.

Killing Cap wouldn't have made CW a good movie.

Joss Whedon has said time and time again that he is personally against extended cuts and director's cuts of his own work... so if there was any talk of extending his work, they spoke out of turn.
