I thought the same thing. Wow, this is really crappy! And yeah, the fact that they would do 4-LOM before 3-P0 is mind boggling...although I would rather them fail with 4-LOM and get it right with 3-P0.

Hasbro's...

Will be interested to see the price on this. Maybe they will have a 4-LOM/Zuckuss 2-pack. Hopefully they will, or this guy may not sell that well.

I bet the HT guys come over and point and laugh.
"We're partners with you guys? C'mon, we cant help you with every figure."

I honestly don't know what to believe. The head does look like its from a Hasbro figure. Has SSC ever put a cheap place holder up for display at SDCC before?

The neck and head are new but the body is so much like the Hasbro. And the head is smaller than the Hasbro which is actually inaccurate. 4-LOM has a huge head.

Its not... I own the Hasbro, this is much slimmer and better proportionsed.

Does not look good. Neck post is terrible. 4-LOM didn't have much of a neck.

I will almost guaranteed the neck is just placed on there. I'm guessing this one was not quite ready and someone did not set him up properly.

I'm excited to get 4-Lom and this just show's that C-3PO is not far behind :rock

I disagre. for 3p0, with the proper paint, it would be great...
But 4lom is a protocol droid modified for combat. yes, i the film he just stood there.. but so did IG-88, and look at what sideshow did for him.

at the very least, TELL me he can shoulder his rifle.

the recent hasbro 4 inch figure was balljoints on-top of balljoints, and could take decent poses. this should be better than that.

If you think the neck is final I'd point out the heavy paint strokes on it... this is clearly not displayed right.

I am curious about if the arms will have any articulation; doesn't look like it... but I can't imagine Sideshow would develop a 1/6 C-3PO with less articulation than Medicom's.

I bet this was a last minute addition to their overall showcase. None of us I don't think, were expecting to see another 1:6 Bounty Hunter...at least I wasn't. I'm sure this is an early stage Prototype to give us an idea of what to expect in the Bounty Hunter line next. At least this is what I am telling myself.

I'm sure we'll see plenty of improvements on this though before release.

I feel similar. I was gung ho and high off the preorder for IG-88 and was looking forward to a full lineup of the bounty hunters. Now, I think I could live with just Boba. Might even be able to wait for the new PF or even the LSF!

I still think it will look fine once its finished... but no way that is the finished product. Or if it is someone broke the neck.

But it is funny that people were complaining about the body when its got to be the same one used for the C-3PO figure and no one seemed bothered by the proportions (except for overall scale) on him :huh

I THOUGHT it looked familiar. And as much love as the Medi 3p0 gets, i still stand by my earlier statement that properly painted up, this body makes a good 3p0.

Now that we can move forward, sideshow, give us a 4-lom with as much articulation as your IG88.

There is a ball joint at the wrist and the shoulders. The head is on a ball joint and I believe the feet are too. They're awesome figures that do have a few issues (scale, price, etc.) but they look great. I sold my set because I knew they can't be too far off, especially now.

mwctoys.com has pictures that are a lot more flattering. It's Medicom styled, but it does look better than Hasbro.

I would still never expect or accept it from Sideshow. Not after the clone commanders, cantina aliens, and the first two bounty hunters.

This looks like something SS would have given use a few years ago. They have come a long way, Clones, and Grievous are a testament to that.

It's hard to believe that just 3 years ago Medicom were producing figures that were superior to Sideshow (IMHO). Looking at this figure alonside Sideshow's IG-88 and Grievous shows that Sideshow is now on a different planet. IMHO the only Medicom figure still worth owning is Maul, at least until HT (hopefully) dishes one out.

I will agree that medicom seems to have fallen behind. I think this figure will look great once its finalized, but for whatever reason the one on display does look funky.

The R5-D4 looks really nice though... so my guess is they'll squeeze out as many figures as they can with the C-3PO and R2-D2 base they already have.

I like this figure. I was worried when I thought it was a sideshow. Now that I know it's Medicom I want 3 of them! LOL No seriously I will buy this when they finish it. A lot of Medi Hate on this thread. Wow!

The protocol droids should not be any taller than 11.5 inches. Which is what I assume Medi 3PO is cause I don't have one. Anthony Daniels is 5'9" or 69 inches divided by 6(1/6 scale) is 11 and 1/2 inches. So if 3PO and 4LOM here are both that tall then they are in proper 1/6 scale. Why everyone is looking forward to a taller Sideshow 3PO is beyond me. All Sideshow Lukes are out of scale. He is only supposed to be 11 1/4 inches tall like the medicom ones.

But maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree or preaching to the choir or something like that. If I could afford either I would buy them. Hopefully HT DX Luke will be scaled properly instead of 12 inches tall like almost all their figures.

That's dumb.

I wonder how long it will take Sideshow to announce him after R2. I'm curious to see if astromech variants will perform as well as clones. I'd buy a lot of them if they were priced the same. I'd pay more for a loaded R2 (Leia hologram, appendages, drink tray, pop-up lightsaber and everything) but for the rest, I don't see why they'd have to cost more. R5-D4 is the only other one I can think of that would need more than a dome, a chasis and three legs (he needs a bad motivator feature). I might accept an extra $20 for lights, but that's it.

I actually talked with my distributor here in canada about the pricing on medicom and HT, and that was his exact answer. With the american dollar struggling even their dealer prices are going up on the distributed products from SSC. Supposedly the new vader will be priced around $350 from medicom...I'm assuming this might b a ultimate unison given the price.
I feel this 4-lom figure will be available for a very long time!!!
If medicom puts out a dexcent Zukuss fairly quick, it might salvage the sales on this figure...but alone it's dead .

There is a note on the page at BBTS that says the price may change if they can find a distributor. They usually come down in those cases, but there's a lot of room to come down from $219. This is still going to be ridiculously overpriced.

But that is just nuts! On top of that it has a non-refundable deposit, only 1 pic, and its not in scale with other 12". WTF are they thinking??? And R5-D4 is even worse with his $200 price tag and description of "Medicom Toy's RAH body is one of the most articulated 12-inch figure bodies available, capable of nearly any pose that the human (or droid) body can achieve." ALL their figures are stupidly expensive - then there's the UU ones. :slap

I saw this the other day when I bought the Republic Clone Captain,Battle Droids 2 pack and Commander Bacara at Newbury Comics in Norwood.
It looked like it was marked down but no one was biting on it.
I saw it an laughed at how bad it looked,in hand it's cheesy.

I saw this again at my comic store yesterday. I just can't justify that ridiculous price. It really looks and feels like a 60-80 dollar figure.

I like how there 4-Lom is but it just isn't worth the price....which is how I feel with all of the medicom figures. I cant wait till SSC does Dangar and 4-Lom and they better end up doing them and not switch gears to other figures. But at least I get my favorite character Bossk :yess:

I think he looks nice. Much better than the hasbro 12 inch one. I have both. I know it was an expensive figure but I really like the character.

What's the articulation like??

Looks great, I will go ahead and pick this up...one thing I can say is it looks better then their proto images, seems to have good detail.
Thanks for the pics.

Articulation??

mortifactor
10-09-2012, 11:23 AM
Articulation is basically as he stands there, my tc-14 can't move his upper legs more than half a cm back or fourth, ankles about 1/4 a cm around, no elbow articulation. Good waist articulation

I like how the 4-lom looks and given that the ssc one may never happen (chogokin perhaps) this with the neck shortened may be a good catch. Too expensive for me to justify though haha

Archer07

Tons of articulation. Ball jointed head. Shoulders, swivel just below shoulders, wrists have ball joint, waist ball joint/swivel, leg swivel, knees swivel and ball jointed ankles.

Is there any way he can shoulder his rifle or hold it in a meaningful way? Is the upper leg movement range as limited as I said about tc-14?
Gotta keep an eye out for him on sale or something!

Archer07
10-09-2012, 11:44 AM
No he can't hold rifle due to hand mold. His upper legs move just fine. I'm ok with how he holds the rifle though. Glad I got this out for pics. I like it more now that I see more detail. The paint apps are good. I especially like the two sharp pointed antennae Potruding from his face.

hmm.. might be officially on my list - could mod the elbows to be articulated and shorten the neck, then weather him more and he would be definitive (as far as I'd want)

Crap, I do have a sore spot in the heart for junkyard looking droids

I used his MG-34 stood next to him like a yard stick, compared a sandtrooper's 1/6th one with my TC-14 (same body mould) and the scale does indeed look spot on. Should prob have it in hand in a week

Mini review, as info and pics are scarce on this guy -

In hand he feels very solid, despite being basically the same droid as the medi tc-14 I have, he feels heavier and sturdier, with tight joints. Doesn't feel cheap or anything.

The 'on the hunt poses' in the above pics are the most you are gonna get out of him, the character design of the droid plating prevents his movement, and his elbow pistons are fixed solid so no elbow articulation. You can get a lot of character out of him still, but he isn't gonna flip out and go full on space marine any time soon. I imagine him doddering along and shooting from the hip like an old clint eastwood :lol

There is a flaw on mine, and this is the only feature i'd call 'bad' on the figure (the mould is good apart from the neck isn't as hunched as in the film, might have a go modding that. The orange rust is too vibrant and he is a tad clean but it is acceptable for factory) is the head paint, they actually forgot to finish the paint apps on the eyes too, leaving mine flat green

http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr226/harry838/4lomlowqual2.png

Don't mind, as I'm repainting him to look like this anyway,
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT7yEtVbTF16wURLgVhVhhXE7utwJGzB egAAH3qS5OQJuEnoi6a0g
so may as well do the eyes

Wires in the stomach are painted on, but are done well.

Depending how I feel I may change his neck, and add elbow articulation (with the headache of what to do with the pistons) but just gonna go for paint atm.

Thanks guys, the articulation is exactly the same as tc-14 and therefore c3po, also i'm glad the hasbro zuckuss has the same height difference with 4-lom as on film - decades and continents apart it was surely a fluke :lol

Did the terrifying task of breaking off his head (wasn't designed to be disassembled at all, unlike a lot of ssc figs that let you) to change his neck haha, worked out well though in the end and has the squatter, less human like head position. Will do a boat load of modification pics when I have it all done :hi5:

Yup. I had to dismantle the chest to do my 3PO mod. That's the only way to get the head off unless you can split the head T the seam.
