So, they are going to snub TFA for best picture? Really? How about Ford for supporting actor or even Daisy for actress. Maybe not deserving of a win, but they should have at least gotten a nomination, especially for best picture.

A lot of these are horrible nominations IMO.

Jennifer Lawrence was nothing special in "Joy" -- "Brooklyn" was a decent film, very choppy and ending really had no purpose. Very anticlimactic.

A few though are wishful wins for me like Sly in "Creed".

I haven't seen "The Revenant" yet, but I'm seeing a lot of talk about it. I'm hopeful. "The Force Awakens" gets my vote in every category they are in. :lol

Their acting isn't anything spectacular IMO, however when we got Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress, I'd rather have Daisy Ridley up there. I'd also swap Brooklyn for TFA.

Wow, a majority of the acting nominations are absolutely terrible choices. Especially in the Male category. The only Important movie I haven't seen this year was The Martian, so I can't speak on that film, or Matt Damon's nomination, but man, what a horrible list.

I'm still in shock Idris Elba didn't get a nomination, and looking at that list he should have been the clear winner this year. Same for Beasts of No Nation. Abraham Atta should've also been considered as well. I don't even think Leo deserved a nomination and he's one of the front runners.

Leo, Mark Ruffalo, Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Bryan Cranston, Rachel Mcadams, Sylvester Stallone, and Eddie Redmayne should not be on the list. There were so many better performances this year but seems their name wasn't big enough, or maybe the role wasn't Oscar bait.

I don't have much of a problem with the best picture nominations or the lead/supporting actresses list outside of Rachael McAdams and Jennifer Lawrence being on there. I would take the Revenant and Bridge of Spies out of the best picture list though.

Overall, this has to be one of the worst lists I've seen in a long time.

Because it wasn't best picture material.

It's making $$$. Lots of $$$. Who gives a **** about an award. :lol

Go Fury Road!!!

Best Picture
The Big Short

But I believe Beasts of No Nation was the best movie of the year, followed by Steve Jobs. But on the list, I think The Big Short was the best.

Best Actor
Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs

Best Actress
Cate Blanchett, Carol

Cate Blanchett should definitely be winning, but I can see Brie Larson possibly getting the win

Best Supporting Actor
Tom Hardy, The Revenant

The entire list of actors are undeserving of a nomination in my opinion, but on this list, I guess Tom Hardy gave the best performance. Idris really was snubbed here though.

Best Supporting Actress
Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight

I wouldn't be upset if Kate Winslet won though, and I think she probably will.

Best Directing
George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road

I’m pretty sure The Revenant will win here, but to me, Fury Road was the most unique movie of the year, George Miller should get the win, but he probably won’t. The Revenant will probably take it, it another beautifully shot film by Alejandro González Iñárritu, but its also a typical Alejandro González Iñárritu film.

Best Film Editing
The Big Short

The Big Short definitely deserves the win here.

Best Original Score
Jóhann Jóhannsson, Sicario

The Big Short should probably take this category, Adam Mckay did a great job bringing a very unconventional story to the big screen.

You mean you think Mad Max will sweep (-1) the awards? Very surprising coming from you. ;)

My picks for what I think will win, probably

Glad to see TFA pick up five nominations. Not surprised to see the Academy recognize the great score. If Fury Road got a Best Picture nom then Ex Machina and TFA definitely should have as they were superior films. FR was great but a little too "one note" to be awarded the top prize, IMO. I would have removed its Best Picture nomination and put it in the running for Best Score instead.

I'll be thrilled if Ex Machina walks away with trophies for Best Visual Effects and Screenplay.

Holy crap, managed to miss that Mad Max is nominated for Best Picture. That's incredible. I mean it definitely won't win but.....

Leo hopefully could finally get over the hump so the Internet would explode, will I guess it will either way lol. I want Mad Max and Stallone to win so much.

This was a pretty weak year in film from the looks of it.

My picks

Best Picture

The Revenant

Best Actor

Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs

Best Actress

Brie Larson, Room

Best Supporting Actor

My gut says Christian Bale, The Big Short

but I'm going with Sly

Sylvester Stallone, Creed

Best Supporting Actress

Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight

Best Directing

Alejandro González Iñárritu, The Revenant

Can't say I'm surprised by the nominations. The best actor and actress categories are filled with critical darlings from the year, pretty much everyone nominated was said to be the reason that film was watchable despite the film itself not being great, such as Jennifer Lawrence and Eddie Redmaine. I'm not surprised by Ruffalos nomination as he was the best thing in spotlight that wasn't the script. Rachel Mcadams surprises me as I thought she was ok, I think she was just lucky to be in one of the best films of the year.

I can't speak for beast of no nation as I haven't seen it but it seems like the Academy voters have a biased against Netflix right now, despite the incredible talent in front and behind the camera. I'm actually surprised Star Wars didn't get a Best Picture nom, I was really expecting that.

No Hateful 8 for best Screenplay? Kinda shocking.

I'd like to see Fury Road, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sylvester Stallone, Jennifer Jason Leigh, George Miller, and Ennio Morricone go home with some gold.
