Pretty good... but does the paint job and weathering usually carry out to production? That stuff could make or break these figures.

Ambush is 42cm, sideshow will be getting him shortly for around $330, which considering his size and detailing and articulation is cool with me

I'm getting Atom for sure but it’s gonna be hard not to pick up the other guys. I love the design of Midas and I wouldn’t mind picking up Ambush but damn these guys are so expensive. Also considering neither one of them ever fought Atom in the movie. Maybe they’ll do Nosy Boy next.

If I remember right, Atom was sitting down right there. I don't think he was as bug as Zeus but he's definitely not as small as Hugh Jackman

I guess I am one of the select few who quite enjoyed the film. Hell all of my friends did too and even my parents had a blast watching it. I came in there for a boxing robots story and that's what I got. If they make a sequel, I hope they work on the choreography though. I liked the general design and style of the film a lot, but I think its weakpoint was that the fight scenes tended to be short and simplistic. Could definitely use some more elaborate fights. I definitely felt the punches though. Watching the final fight was a great feeling. Got really into it.

I'm more than happy to buy these figures. I wonder if ThreeA will try to make some kind of dio boxing ring or something. Would be really cool.

I think a choice they should have did was made it so that the boxes these come with can be formed to create a kind of ghetto ring. Maybe each box could come with a pole and some strings and then when you buy four Real Steel figures you would have enough to form the ring. Would have been an interesting treat for the collectors.

I enjoyed the film too it was fun and did what i expected it to do.

Robots were awesome, Atom, Zeus and Noisy Boy stole the show so they are serious contenders for my money.

Do they ship to the UK and i thought you could only pay with paypal? Protection would be void by the time this ships. Also if something is wrong SSC will look after me without having to send it back over there. :)

Bambaland is Paypal and pay up front, but speaking from experience, i'm currently waiting on them sending me a repaired clothing piece and a replacement hand from another figure and have previously gotten a brand new head from a piece i bought on eBay, so getting the figure fixed or replaced won't be a problem.

Bambaland really should start a Flexpay like system I think people would be a lot more supportive of the site if they did especially considering how expensive their stuff ends up being and how long we have to wait. Dropping five hundred dollars for a giant robot and then not seeing it for a year is pretty ridiculous.

I'm glad I got the ThreeA membership because it has helped pressure me to buying Ambush, Rex, and Midas this year. It's hard to say no to the 15% discounts plus free shipping on figures I have at least somewhat of an interest in. At the same time it has reduced my interest in their generic variants and such.

Don't worry I think we all hate it too. I want to imagine the hardcore fans of 3A are not oblivious to the apparent and obvious flaws, but instead just actively accept them or something. Going to the forums for example give me the impression of a cult like following. It's almost scary sometiems :lol Go here though and no matter how respected the company is people are very self aware and willing to harshly critique. I know it pisses people off here, but I would argue the opposite (blindly loving stuff) is far worse.

That being said yeah it really sucks throwing down four hundred dollars for something you won't see for another eight months. It just doesn't make sense to me and I can't really think of any other major company that does that. Even the ones that do tend to do it shortly prior to release, like Enterbay.

I was hoping when 3A went with the Sideshow partnership and the news letter that they would decide to step up their game and become more professional, but neither of those things happened. We haven't had a newsletter for months and the people who regularly update the news stuff tend to be just as clueless as us because information is just not provided by this company. Only a few things have went up on Sideshow and every time it is significantly better to just go with Bambaland for the discounts and exclusives. Not only that but 99% of the products are still Bambaland exclusive, and the whole 24 hour drop stuff and secret drops etc... is such an absurdly stupid business model that I'll never understand it.

The weird thing is that for a little while they had mentioned moving to a different model of production where they would produce the figure prior to the preorder and then those preorders would more or less be actual orders. The figure would ship out a week or two after the drop is over. They did this with what... one figure (the lolipop one) and then stopped? Seriously what the hell. Experiment with your own time and money; not ours.

Sorry for the rant :lol This is literally the only toy related forum I know where I don't feel awkward harshly critiquing 3A in a discussion about their stuff.

Order from Bambaland and you get the exclusive controller and its free shipping. Yes, you have to pay upfront. if you want to order from Bambaland you better hurry. I heard that the sale ends in about 30 minutes. 24 hour window at Bambaland usually. Don't quote me on this though.

You will be able to order from Sideshow and the benefit is that you could Flexpay it or just cancel it down the road if you decide it isn't for you. Canceling with ThreeA is a lot more difficult.

With that being said the free shipping is wonderful. It also means you'll be getting the figure first as it is coming straight from the source.

Finally I tend to not care much for exclusives but in my opinion this one is a MUST. It is a 1/6 controller rather than a 1/1 scale one meaning that you can use it with your 1/6 figures to create actual scenes and dioramas. I feel like it makes poses with these robots twice as cool.

But yeah he will be going down soon enough so if you still need to decide, I would think quick.

No not really :lol I think we will probably get him before Christmas hopefully, but I think a January release is more likely. With that being said Ambush did end up coming in his promised timeslot though didn't he? I imagine they won't have too many Midas to make and with Ambush made they probably know how to approach the figure so I wouldn't be too surprised if he did ship out early fourth quarter.

DeadLeaves - have you gotten your figure yet? My tracking has been stuck at "Handed over to Airline" for a week without any new updates... wondering what is going on....

Yep, got him last Thursday. I've been busy painting at home after work all week so I haven't had a good play with him yet. First impression is it's a really cool bot, nicely made.

Be careful though, the ball joints are insanely tight and the design makes it hard to manipulate them without putting pressure on some delicate parts.

I can't see it happening, (due to the painting) but if a can I'll take some pics this weekend.

Email Candy at 3A to find out what's goin on: [email protected]

Again? They looked really easy to move in the video above unlike Ambush.

They work free pretty nicely, but the ball joints were pretty tough at the start. Elbows, shoulders and knees are ratcheted.

It's better than him being a rag doll.:wink1:

Even if you're joking, don't ever use WD-40 on a figure, you silly person.

You better head over to the 3A forum and tell the staff then. That's what they were telling people to use on the Ambush figure. They even did it to the one they had to test it. :lol

Wd-40 should be fine. I've heard of some issues with it and some materials but this suggestion came from ThreeA offices and has been tested there

Was just some friendly advice bud :) Don't want to see you wreck your figure.

RC car lube is the safest way to lube any plastic joints if you're interested.

No prob mate, these 3A bots are teh expen$ive!!1! :lol

Side note, did your Ambush need lubrication? Just wondering, cause my one after the first 'crack' of the hip joints, was OK to move as long as you hold the surrounding parts. I don't follow any 3A news to be honest... :monkey3

The hips were really stuck! i mean i couldn't get them moving at all even with heat. I sent SSC a message about it and they said use some WD40 but just drab a bit into the joints, while they go check one from their stock. They came back saying they had the same problem but with some force they got the legs moving. So anyway the bit of WD40 got mine working nice and after a few month there are no ill effects. I was covered by SSC just incase it was a problem.

Glad it worked for you then mate. It's the globbing it on that'll give you bad results. Just be careful k? :peace

Yeah i wasn't going to spray it into the joints because i'd heard about problems with it. But just adding a little drop and having SSC replace it if it was a problem was good enough for me.

I'll be switching to RC car lube from now on though if i have anymore problems.

Finally got my Midas in the mail yesterday! And got the chance to open him up and my Ambush too to play with them a bit. Still need to go get some batteries to make them come to life, but here are some quick pictures -

Very happy with the purchase. The joints are scarily tight but once I work it a few times, they get better. Just need to know where to hold it to move the parts. My Ambush is a second hand item, and the shoulder ball joint feels like a rag doll when I take him out before. I pulled out the joint and felt that there are oil/grease on the ball, hence it is not holding any pose. I ended up adding some blue tack to the socket and push the ball back, and now Ambush can raise an arm! I strongly suggest those of you who are planning to add WD40 or wax to actually work the joints a bit first. It is better to be a little tight that totally loose!!

You are welcome bud! Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

Now I wish they would come out with a Noisy Boy. That would be the one to look forward to! As much as Atom is the main bot, I think Noisy Boy looks coolest! Of coz, I wonder if they will also make Zeus. That would be killer!

If 3A can make the whole gang, Metro, Twin Cities, and all. Honestly, when I first saw the trailer of Real Steel, I dismissed it as yet another dumb movie from Hollywood. With no expectations, I walked into the theatre and is surprised how good it is. The story is straight forward, no dumb forced "bad" stuff happened to them, and totally an underdog fighting back type of deal. Watch the Blu-Ray with wife again and the second time viewing makes me really like the designs of the robots. Each one has it's own character and the designs are well done. I would buy them all if they come out with them (and of coz because of the quality they are in!).
