Don't have the Medicom one, so I can't pull it out to check. :(

garzo I think you're a trouble maker. :lol

The rubber issue is one that will tell over time. Many other factors come into play like temperature, treatment etc, but it's too soon to say right now. I guess manufacturers use what they think is best, to emulate the subject matter to the best of their abilities.

HT's new Batman, as much as I love his posability and Face and Cowl sculpt and the CB head that is simply awesome (especially with the new suit), I believe HT gets a get out of jail free card from most of the reviews i've read when it comes to those weak ankles and the need for that ugly stand to be used unlike the Takara which stands perfectly w/o the need for a stand.

Especially with all the concerns over "Rubber durability", i'm surprised more collectors don't complain about the stand's metal holders digging into the rubber's inner thighs!

I feel like it's my duty to let HT know that while they did a good job with the sculpt, his stability sure does leave a-lot to be desired and it's a shame that a 2 year old Takara Batman can stand w/o a stand, so much so that it didn't even come with one!

Sorry HT but back to the drawing board.

The weak ankles has been fix in the TDK suit so HT does improves their products.

I agree with you on the stand though. I still prefer the older design.

Well then, that's actually good to hear. I hope the IM's have the new stronger ankle design as well.

I sure bet HT is happy that IM doesn't wear a cape

So regardless of which costume design you prefer, it sounds like the TDK version is a better-made figure that doesn't have some of the flaws of the Original costume version. Is that right?

Question guys!

I'm in the UK and wondered if anyone could recommend any good sites I could buy this figure from?

Cheers!

That depends, pre-order deposits and import tax/duties. I got mine from https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HOT10133&mode=retail

However, Parcelforce held mine for a few days before they sent me a letter for a payment fee for import tax before they would deliver it. Almost £30 $51 over and above the original USPS P&P from BigBadToyStore.

BigBadToyStore, wont charge you for a preorder until its in/ready for dispatch, plus I don't think they charge you if you cancel unlike certain others.

ActionHQ was good, I never suffered import tax problems but sadly the original suit has been sold out for many months now. https://www.actionhq.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=3058

Others have gotten it from https://www.toys2.net/product.php?productid=20624&cat=0&page= Cancel order will cause 10% cancellation fee.

There is other places, I'm sure some will list but you'll still have that same problem no doubt with pre-order deposits with some, not all, and import tax complications.

I have zero problems with HT Batman standing on his own in any pose. Plus with the stands, I just have the figure lean against the post and not wrapped around them.

I don't have that issue. Perhaps it's because mine was never digging into it, and just barely leaning against it. I never put it near direct sunlight, I never put it near extreme heat, or anywhere thats likely to get somewhat hot like near room radiators or such, or anywhere near extreme cold or windows or places that is likely to get lots of condensation. Nor do I play with it, like some due ¬_¬

To me it's a collectable so I treat it as if it was an ornament. With the utmost care. Nowhere near glues, adhesives, water or any odd liquids or anything than can spill fall or damage it. When I do display it... One pose and keep it, and most times keep it in it's box due to other things happening in the house, until I can get a proper display unit.

You will always hear the problems from the ones that don't look after anything. You never or rather I should say very rarely ever hear about the ones that never have problems.

Well said, I can't argue against any of that because I follow the same rules exactly to what you described.

But the simple fact that my Batman OC HAD to be on the stand or there was a 100% chance of him falling as soon as I looked away really made me begin to dislike him and in the end, I preferred the Takara over him (I know, Blasphemy) because my Takara has been in the same position w/o a stand for a very long time now w/o even moving a centimeter.

I'm thrilled to hear that the new suit supposedly has stronger ankles, it's a move in the right direction.

I do believe that the OC received too many free passes regarding it's horrendous ankles in most of the reviews I read as in HT could do no wrong.

I'll say it for the 100th time, Excellent Batman (and Bale) sculpture, suit, moveability (different than poseability), and accessories but damn crappy weak ankles and that's very important for me because stands in my opinion ruin the look of the figure hence why most cool photos you see going for realism have the stands "removed" in post production.

But good looking boots, go figure (no pun intended..yes it was).

P.S. Don't get me wrong, the WORST ankles-boots award goes to the DC Direct TDK Batman, only way to display him if one wasn't going to use the stand was on his back! He would not stand AT ALL!!

At least the HT OC would stand if one was lucky that his top heavy weight wouldn't wake up gravity to do it's deed!

Yeah, something about the Takara still wins it for me, it may not be as life like as the Hot Toys but I love both equally. Plus the cape is so awesome on the Takara.

I'm still amazed at the amount of times I have knocked my desk and it never falls over.

HOLY AWESOME AND UNTOUCHED PHOTOS!!

So true, I did it myself. I had both the HT and the Takara on the table and shook the table and nose dive went the HT, not so the Takara.

Love the cape as well!

Did I mention how AWESOME those photos are! Some of them look like Val Kilmer as Batman.....LOL

My fave is the one 8th one down.

Jeez Louize!

Tak Bats was a revolutionary figure. No doubt about that. And I'm glad to say that I own one :)

Yeah the Takara figure was the ^^^^. I remember people clamoring over it back when we were all drooling over the selection of 1/6 Batman Begins figures a while ago.

I know that I'm being very hard on the HT Batman OC because of his ankles, it's just that I hate glossing over or ignoring problems just because i'm such a huge nut over everything Hot Toys and Sideshow Premium Formats.

Nothing is perfect but there's nothing wrong expecting the highest level of design implementation and then letting the company hear our voices when we feel that there's room for improvement.

Feedback is golden, if anything these companies should be rewarding us diehard fans for our feedback.

Here's mine.....

"HT, please make a Keaton 1989 Batman, please!!!!!"

Wait, that's not feedback, that's wishlist begging!!!

MuAhahhhhhhhhhaaa

Those are some pretty amazing positions for the Takara batman, I've been playing around with my Hot Toys batman ever since I got it just to find a decent looking pose.

When I saw this pic of Edwint's, that is what it reminded me of. The scene at the start of the film more or less as he walks off the building.

and speaking of 89 Batman :D

There's an awesome guy named Shawn (of Sovereign Studios)over at the SSF boards who started doing commissions for a 1/6 Michael Keaton Batman from the 1989 movie a while back. He does some incredible work, including a Bats figure from Batman Returns.

I haven't received mine yet (not actually sure when it'll arrive), but here's a couple shots taken by SSF members Cocoloboy and Natrix:

I have always loved this pose, sadly the cape wasn't soft enough to do it with the Hot Toys. You just can't get the soft wrinkles in it like that. Just like you would see with silk.

That was the best I could do with mine, it kept straightening out. :/

Look how soft and flowing the cape really is.

How stunning is that!
