I see Alien Covenant made a lot of Worst list. Interesting. Seems to be the one film I am not on board with on the worst list. I was definitely disappointed but found David's story to still be interesting. Hard for me to hate on a Ridley Scott film :)

David was the one admittedly good part about AC. It seems like a lot of bad movies these days tend to have their own Maul.

Favorites:
1. Wonder Woman
2. The Last Jedi
3. Dunkirk
4. Atomic Blonde
5. Logan
6. IT
7. Blade Runner 2049
8. Spider-Man Homecoming
9. Ghost in the Shell
10. Justice League

The Worst:
Lego Batman

Still need to see:
The Shape of Water
Mother!
Get Out
Lady Bird
Split

I just could not get over how riveted I was by the characters and their stories in this film. As sad as their stories were I did not want to leave these characters. Great movie for sure.. Its making a lot of top 10 list around the net.. Would love to see this get some Oscar love.. Been a long time since I have cared about the Oscars.. If this gets nominated I may watch and then get pissed as I watch it lose to a lesser film :lol

I've seen it 3 times - gets better with each viewing, but for different reasons.

The writer (and director on WR) is 3 for 3: Sicario, Hell or High Water, Wind River...

Pretty impressive.

I see Alien Covenant made a lot of Worst list. Interesting. Seems to be the one film I am not on board with on the worst list. I was definitely disappointed but found David's story to still be interesting. Hard for me to hate on a Ridley Scott film :)

I wanted to stick to your format but considered a category for Amusing Diversions. I’d put Covenant in there.

2017 was also pretty disappointing for me for decent movies.

Best
(1) Blade Runner 2049 - Was lucky enough to see this a second time in Melbourne IMAX. One of the biggest IMAX screens in the world. Amazing, simply amazing !
(2) Lion - was released later in Germany, plus I was only made aware of it this year. Not such a well known film, but a must for any serious movie fanatic. Made me cry :)
(3) Logan - a great sendoff to Hugh Jackman and a great film I thought.
(4) Atomic Blonde - awesome music score and beautifully shot.
(5) Dunkirk (such a different film)

OK - Good Entertainment - Basically the popcorn movies of the year
(1) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
(2) Thor Ragnarok
(3) Spider-man Homecoming
(4) Wonder Woman
(5) Justice League

Worst - Most Disappointing
(1) The Last Jedi - man sooo disappointing. If Solo is good, then I think I'll only be watching Star Wars Anthology movies. I thought Rogue One was great. Struck just the right balance IMO.
(2) The Dark Tower - haven't actually seen it yet, but from what I've heard it's not good.....The reason I haven't seen it is I am listening to the Audiobooks now. One of my all time best stories for now. I think I'll just keep to the books as the movie sounds very disappointing. Mind you not the easiest of stories to put to film.

What is your Top 10 Best and Top 5 worst that got a Theatrical Releases this year.

Top 10 Best:
1. Wind River Yeah good film
2. Split Nahh, didn't particularly like this
3. Wonder Woman Decent enough
4. Logan Very good film if a bit depressing
5. Atomic Blonde Haven't seen
6. IT Not a big horror fan but this was a well done, well acted film
7. Baby Driver Haven't seen
8. Blade Runner 2049 Loved it, regret not seeing it in the cinema
9. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Pretty meh overall but nice turnaround for the Yondu character
10. Dunkirk Haven't seen

Runner's Up:
War For the Planet of the Apes Very good, I'd have in my top 10
The Hitman's Bodyguard Surprisingly decent, it'll get a ***t sequel I bet
John Wick: Chapter 2 Haven't seen either film, heard a dog gets cruelly slaughtered in the first one which puts me off
Spider-man: Home Coming Disappointed me, I don't like that he's basically got his own Jarvis among other things
Get Out Oh yeah this was pretty decent
Justice League - Yep you read right - :lol *shakes head*

Top 5 Worst:
1. Transformers: The Last Knight
2. Underworld: Blood Wars
3. The Mummy I've only seen this one, it was OK, I just didn't care one way or another
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
5. The Great Wall

Runner's Up
Thor Ragnarok Enjoyable if excessively jokey given it featured the destruction of Asgard
Baywatch Haven't seen

Too lazy to think up my own list so I just commented within the quote.

For what it's worth:

Best

1. Alien Covenant- Brilliant, bizarre and suitably twisted
2.Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 - Beautifully shot, funny and with a whole lot of heart
3. Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets - The imagination on display is staggering, and Dehan and Delviene make for quite charming leads
4. Logan - Bleak, depressing but undoubtedly the finest X-Men film yet made

Honourable Mention: Blade Runner 2049 - It's nice to see an attempt at hard sci-fi in this age of homogenized block busters, however when you're making a follow up to one of the most seminal films in the genre you've got a huge hurdle to surmount, and 2049 was merely OK

The Worst:

1. The Last Jedi - Competently made, but a Frankenstein of The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, poorly stitched together with no love, rhyme, or reason. The epitome of soulless corporate movie product.

And that's all I've got, the rest of the movies I've seen this year have been merely alright rather than being God or bad

Okay I probably won't be seeing any new 2017 releases on the big screen so here I go:

Top Shelf:

1. Blade Runner 2049
2. The Last Jedi
3. A Ghost Story
4. Wind River
5. Dunkirk
6. Lady Bird

Really enjoyed:

7. ALIEN Covenant
8. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
9. Thor: Ragnarok
10. The Foreigner
11. John Wick: Chapter 2
12. Split
13. Spider-Man: Homecoming
14. Wonder Woman

Decent:

15. Ghost in the Shell
16. Logan
17. Beauty and the Beast

Meh:

18. Lego Batman
19. Justice League
20. Despicable Me 3

Sucked:

21. Kong: Skull Island
22. Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Downright Awful:

23. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
