The face sculpt looks great, but surprisingly, I'm not feeling the octopus. I don't know what it is....maybe it's because it's an octopus, but then again, this is Namor.

It's a fairly quite thread, so I'm assuming I'm not the only one thinking this.

While I usually like the XM designs, I think this one has gone too far with the base - it has too much presence compared to what should be the focal point - i.e. Namor. The octopus looks great - but it's just a random cephalopod, not an important character from the Marvel comics. Sometimes a big base works - e.g. their Magneto - and sometimes it doesn't.

You said it a lot better than I did. :lol Agreed.

I still think the base is leaving something to be desired with the paint app pics from before and just the overall idea of an octopus. I don't know. It sounds crazy, but it's definitely not one of my more favorite pieces from XM.

I'm witcha, the big base totally takes away from Namor. this feels like they are trying too hard to create something epic.

This is one of my most anticipated pieces of 2017...hopefully. IMO...the base doesn't take anything away from Namor because he is in black gear...and just the black gear is a huge contrast to the brown of the Octopus. I would be more inclined to agree with Chapter IF Namor was naked or the same color as the cephalopod. JM2C.

If Namor was naked, I would'nt give a crap about the pus. You're entitled to love it as much as your little heart desires.

"Here is the answer to your demands. Compromise...? Never."

XM Studios is excited to present our next Marvel Premium Collectibles series statue, Namor! The Sub-Mariner and King of Atlantis is immortalized in amazingly detailed 1:4 scale cold-cast porcelain. Each painstakingly handcrafted statue is individually hand-painted with the highest possible quality finish. The Lord of the Seven Seas is perched atop a Giant Octopus, brandishing a golden spear in a regal pose. Collect Namor, Hulk and Dr Strange to form your own Defenders Team!

Namor's father, American seaman Leonard McKenzie, embarked on an expedition to Antarctica in 1920. During the journey, McKenzie had to set explosive charges to break up ice floes in the ship's path, unaware that Atlantis lay beneath the waters. Atlantean Emperor Thakorr commanded his daughter Fen to investigate the cause of the explosions. In a strange twist of fate, Fen and McKenzie quickly fell in love and were married. Afterwards, Fen returned to Atlantis. Nine months later, Namor was born the first known **** sapien - **** mermanus hybrid. The Sub-Mariner was a founding member of the loosely knit group of heroes known as the Defenders, brought together with Doctor Strange and the Hulk.

I'm totally going to try and snag one.

I can understand the thoughts of some on how the MASSIVE base takes away from Namor given the size differences of the two pieces however I tend to look at it from a slightly different perspective. Personally I see the MASSIVE octopus as a depiction of just how powerful a superhero Namor is. To me Namor in general isn't a physically imposing character. For instance put him on solid ground doing the same pose and I think a large range of his power would be lost.

Now I know the size of the base totally raises the cost of the statue and shipping price but the way I see it it's the only Namor I'll ever need in my collection hands down which is enough justification for me to pick it up. I do hope as was noted above that some shine should exist on the base given it's an octopus in water.
