When is there going to be another eBay like site that gains in popularity and surpasses eBay?

I am sick of eBay's stupid fees and policies.

We need another auction style site to step up with better, less restricting policies and fair distributed fees than eBay has. The only company I can think of that could possibly take over/compete is Google. Aren't there rumors or talks of a possible Google live auction site? What is holding up Google?

The only other site that I think currently rivals eBay is Amazon. That is not even auction style, but just about anyone can list their items on Amazon at a fixed price and you have a very good chance of selling it.

Amen to that. Not only am I tired of the 9% fee charged for what the item sells for and ALSO what the buyer pays for shipping but I'm tired of non-paying bidders and no way to leave them feedback.

I didn't know that about Amazon though. I'll have to check that out.

Doubt there will be. EbaY's killed all the competition to date and with PayPal in their pocket, I doubt that'll change any time soon. :(

If Google really wanted to they could probably give eBay/Paypal a run for their money. But I don't think they really care to, unfortunately.

ebay blows. used to be a good place to get deals on stuff. but with all the fees they charge, it's hard for sellers to let stuff go cheap. plus i hate the shill bidding that goes on. i bid on stuff that nobody else could possibly want, and i always get bid up to or over my max amount. then they come to me with the "second chance" offer when they "accidently" go over my max bid. i just laugh in their face. let them go to the trouble of filing the non-paying bidder and relisting the item if they wanna be so ____ing stupid.

Yep im sick of ebays fee's too. Hate the way they predict your postage and dont let you charge more when the item will obviosly cost more to ship.
And the way buyers cant leave negative feedback....
Something needs to change

i agree. i sold a video game once. they wouldn't let me charge more than $3 for shipping. after shipping materials, insurance, and tracking, it was over $7 at least. what a joke.

Try selling a game system. I think they limit you to $10 for shipping. :slap

The fees, shill bidding, limit on shipping cost for certain items, stupid feedback rules and policies on limits/restrictions for sellers are so stupid; I've had it.

You are right, but I think if any company has a chance of competing with eBay, it is Google. They'd probably have to create their own 'paypal' to go along with their auction site though; and I don't think that would be a problem for Google.

I hope one day they will care enough to give it a shot. I know thousands of people would switch from eBay to Google, and Google would also get new users whom never used eBay as a result of the negativity surround eBay.

Google would have to make it so that their auction site is more attractive to use than eBay (not looks, but by rules/fees/policies, etc.). In which I think the simple fact that there would be a GoogleAuction site would attract people regardless of their policies.

:lecture:lecture:lecture Second post I've seen that said that. Has me wondering if these guys just occasionally buy from Amazon, or not at all and are just assuming.

I meant to refer to Amazon as the only site that competes against eBay for those looking to sell. As for buyers? I've bought many things from Amazon sellers and have not once had an issue, I tend to do my research on the seller before buying though.

Worse than eBay, and that's just HT stuff, not even getting into Sideshow. Even worse since Amazon doesn't care about scalpers.
