I thought I'd post here to see if any of you guys share the same dilemma. I have way too many hobbies, most being expensive and time consuming. I'll get focused on one and soon find another that interests me. Which may not seem bad at first but as I involve myself in one, something new in another pops up and I'll focus on that one. It can seem overwhelming at sometimes which may sound crazy, but how do you guys go about managing your hobbies down to time/money/attention invested?

Could be anything such as collecting certain lines or focusing on certain characters down to just having so many hobbies like music, cars, sports, movies etc.

I collect toys, retro games, comics and wargame.

These can all cost a lot so what I do is a percentage system. Allocate what ever extra money you have by percent by each category. The fun thing is you can change the % when ever you feel like.

So for me I am currently at 70% games, 20% toys, 10% comics and I am not currently buying any more miniatures until i finish painting the ones I have already bought.

It's fluid so I can adapt to my changing interests but also keeps me in check for time and money.

Recently not having enough money to pay my bills or eat the foods I want/like is a great motivator to keep my hobby spending in check.

When I have the free cash, I indulge mostly in action figures and blurays. I can't afford to buy and collect as much stuff as I would like these days, but when I do manage to get something new, I really do appreciate it that much more.

Lets see..... I am into Cars (Expensive), Modifying Cars (Also Expensive), Biking/ Bicycling (Expensive), Statues (Moderately Expensive), Audio/ Video Equipment (Expensive), Gaming (Mildly Expensive), Guns (Expensive), Knives (Expensive). I too jump from one hobby to the next but I never lose sight of each of them. It really just depends on my budget at the time. if I have a lot of money handy I will pick up something from the expensive category, if not then something from the old moderately to mildly expensive. And sometimes I'll rob Peter to pay for Paul but only if I can't wait for funds.

I can relate.

Other than collecting statues, I also am an enthusiast protographer (I have camera equipment worth more than my statue collection), also, I've recently gotten into vintage Omega watches.

Other than collecting dolls, I also am a cocaine enthusiast (I have snorted lines worth more than my doll collection), also, I've recently gotten into vintage hookers.

Oh... I too forgot about my midget porn addiction..:rotfl

Oh yeah. I did forget about watches. I used to have a bunch but I finally couldn't justify having them anymore as the cost to replace batteries and daylight saving time (setting them became to stressful). Plus I only had two wrists:lol

toooooo funny.

...to the OP.

Time management will be my new hobby.

This sounds like a pretty good idea, I just have to work more on time management. My current hobbies are Cars modification and building, Music production and playing guitar, model building, video games, collecting (mostly Hot Toys), comics, drawing, movies, reading, football, airsoft and paintball (which luckily both are hard to do in Japan they sell them but they don't like seeing them) and then sometimes I'll complete a project and be like I think I could make it better and that takes even more time :panic::lol

Well I have a lot of hobbies but I guess there are not too many. At least not too many that I cannot handle.

I guess I am just good at handling my hobbies? I don't know I still cannot relate.

Well with my minimum funds and time (I work 16 hour days) I will want to do one thing have to finish another due to some other reason, spend money on those then realize some new something or other comes out now I have no money for that and have to catch up. It's just a vicious cycle. I just suppose to different lifestyles some people can find more time or money than others.

no is not about money, I understand you about that. I just I guess I have a good control on what I am doing. I like to paint I like to collect stuff, buy movies, other things too, I just usually make a list and don't rush to get everything all at once. I still have stuff on the list that I have not bought yet that I wrote there months ago. I just don't really worry about getting stuff that I know I can buy later.
Some toys you need to buy right away because they will be more expensive in the future. But other toys I waited months to buy just because of my list.

I guess you run a risk of not finding it later but so far I have never had a problem of missing out.
I usually try to get what needs to be bought first and leave some stuff for later. I don't rush it or anything.
