I would also like to see SW flop just because of the chaos it would cause.

me 2

I pray to the movie Gods that TLJ fails every night before bedtime. Disney Wars, we hates it.

If it's a success, I'll pray to the movie gods even harder for Solo to flop.

I hope all films flop...do away with the industry.....make everyone happy again.

TLJ won't flop but if stalls at $400 million Disney WILL go into full panic mode- waaaaaayyyy short of TFA and they just don't get the whole reason TFA went way beyond what everyone expected. Just because you build a hype machine around a new SW doesn't mean people won't get weary off it faster than you can believe- not a "fad" at all but keeping the level of "must see" intensity is difficult.
I think TLJ won't do stunning numbers- just a feeling. How much of the extra success tacked on to RO was due to Carrie's passing?

Better chance that Solo flops....

I hope Infinity War flops. Ten years of mediocre superhero movies should end on a low note.

I found it funny that on Facebook so many said they weren't seeing Geostorm because it was just too soon after the hurricanes. Oh please.

I just find it funny that films that are obvious flops and no-one ever seems to have the ***** at these companies to just pull the plug ahead of time. I guess maybe they hope they'll be another Waterworld and make home view profits.

After the $175M costly King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword, Geostorm is Warner’s second disaster this year. However, the studio is absolutely fine, as it leads all majors at the domestic B.O. with over $1.7 billion (+9% over the same Jan.-October 2016 period).

Like, Solo solo movie is a bad idea.:Flush

But for whatever reason BO has taken a hit this year, unless Nov/Dec turn it around.

Major exhibitor Regal Entertainment Group blamed a “challenging box office environment” in the third quarter for a 74% plunge in earnings per share to 7 cents in the period, compared with 27 cents in the same period in 2016.

https://www.showbiz411.com/2017/10/21/hollywood-ending-big-studios-cutting-losses-this-weekend-pulling-flops-from-theaters-earlier-than-usual

It’s a bizarre season in Hollywood. Almost nothing is “working,” and the studios can’t afford to waste any more money hoping things will turn around. They’re pulling flops from theaters earlier than usual.

This weekend, for example, Warner Bros. is putting out a white flag on “Blade Runner” after three tough weeks. They’ve cut the number of theaters showing Denis Villeneuve’s beautiful film by 855. So far, “Blade Runner” has made just $66 million. Audiences have not clamored to it. And now, week by week, Warners will quietly take it away.

Warner’s isn’t alone. Universal is pulling Tom Cruise’s “American Made” from 539 locations after a month in release. The Doug Liman directed thriller has made just $43 million. Good reviews haven’t helped push Cruise fans to theaters. One problem was lack of promotion since Cruise wasn’t available. Also, audiences may have just soured on him after “The Mummy” and other flops. With both studios, it wasn’t for lack of trying.

The biggest decease (de-crease, but pun intended here) is for the revived “Flatliners.” With just $16 million in the till, Sony would be better off paying people to see this turkey. They’re retreating from 1,433 theaters this weekend, leaving “Flatliners” to breathe on its own. It will be completely dead by Sunday.

Also just about dead is the much praised “Battle of the Sexes,” Fox Searchlight couldn’t get anyone to go see it despite great reviews and excellent marketing. I’m actually dumbfounded that it’s made just $11 million. FS is killing off 849 screens. Ouch! And “Battle” was supposed to yield some awards action.

Warner’s, meantime, is facing more trouble than the other studios. Their “Geostorm” is going to be a disaster this weekend. And their “Lego Ninja” movie is leaving 951 theaters after $52 million and five weeks. Better to get out while they can.

And over all this weekend doesn’t look too promising for new films. “Geostorm” should be joined by “The Snowman” and in the kill bin by Sunday.

Here’s to better days– and soon!

PS Here’s an irony: The Weinstein Company’s “Wind River” is at $33 million. It cost around $15 million. Taylor Sheridan’s directing debut might have been an awards contender if certain things hadn’t happened.

Kind of amazing how so many people actually hope things fail. What ever happened to just avoiding what you don't like instead of wishing bad on things? Some people like what you don't and vice versa. Big deal...

Ignoring it simply isn't enough. Who doesn't like to watch something they don't like crash and burn?

But the cool points...

This.

Need them cool points, bb. I'm almost on my way to being Fonz-tier with the amount of vitriol I'm packin.

I think there can be merit in wanting certain films to fall financially. I have to admit that I'm kind of glad that BR 2049 is doing so poorly as that increases the chance that they'll permanently end on this awesome high note. The only happy ending for franchises anymore is when good movies bomb. Otherwise they just endlessly milk the property and sully the brand.

I guess it would have been nice to see a sequel to Fury Road but like with BR it too ended on a high note.

There are a lot of films that people didn't clamor to that I really liked. King Arthur was one.

I just wish I could get out and see more movies. :(
