That made me extremely sad,wtf was lucas thinking with that character?!!!

Now that I'm seeing it like that, I'm thinking that he was thinking of a cross between Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. If so, it worked brilliantly.

But, then, I've always thought Jar-jar worked. It wasn't what I would've done, but it made a weird sort of Lucas-sense.

At least Jar Jar is a digital character so editing him out wont be that hard if George ever sees the light.
