Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (SPOILERS)
19% on Rotten Tomatoes. OUCH!

I love the fact people are using the "Its aimed for kids" excuse to protect this film. Kung Fu Panda was aimed for kids and was great, I was shocked especially since I'm not a Jack Black fan....Wall-E was amazing and aimed for kids. Shrek was aimed for kids. Any Pixar film while we are at it is aimed for kids. You can make a film aimed for kids that is made to sell merchandise while still make it fresh and fun enough to attract adults and older kids alike. That in this day in age isn't an excuse as fun and funny and smart "kid" films are made every day.
I'm not saying you can't like it, I'm saying just like it. Don't like it but preface it with remember its just for kids mantras. It's completely fine for people to be over the moon about this. Just like it's fine for people not to get it.
I can somewhat exempt Clone Wars since it isn't a part of the live action film saga and may very well be primarily targeted at kids, but I still agree with you Mike.
Umm Spike won't be getting this. It will be TNT/Cartoon Network as they're the ones that have the rights to the series. They are also Time Warner channels, the show is distributed by WB.. you get the idea.
Maybe I'm a fool, but I actually enjoyed seeing this today. I went in expecting a SW story more aimed at kids and w/that as the focus I think they did a great job. Sure the acting was hokey, although still less painful than the "pitching woo" scenes of ATOC.
I really liked the animation style and how much texture and detail the characters had... almost looked like a painting that came to life. Action was fun and I wasn't at all bothered by the lightsaber battles (didn't notice them being sub-par as was mentioned earlier).
I will agree that the narrator at the beginning was terrible... I assume that was done so little kids wouldn't have to have their parents reading it aloud to them and annoying those around them, but it was still jarring and a unfortunate way to start.
I'd give it a 4/5, not the greatest thing ever, but still happy I saw it and would recommend it, especially if you have kids or can at least accept it was aimed at kids.
I think we need to update this.
OT+PT+CW= Star Wars
THEY loved it! My feelings however, well - I didn't dislike it as much as I thought I would. It is far from "good" but it wasn't awful by any means; and all of the action scenes were very good. I never did like the animation style but that is just a matter of personal preference. I am NOT a fan of the stuff for the kiddies - i.e. the Hannah Montana padawan --- yeesh. It felt like a pilot, and well Lucas is Lucas, he can and has milked this on the big screen. It didn't feel like Star Wars to me, but then neither did the first (and vastly superior Clone Wars); it wasn't familiar, but I found parts refreshing. I would say this is worth a watch, not a must-see but a decent 6/10.
Spoiler:Jar Jar Binks disguises himself as a Jedi, cringe.
A clone breaking his hand on the metal exterior of a droid, only to be grabbed about the neck and then shot in the face? A billet brought into Jabba with the decpitated heads of the bounty hunters on it? Yeah, I soo agree with you, nothing at all adult themed about that. You actually think they're going to kill off that character? Especially NOW??!?
Yeah, the same Lucas who thinks it's funny to have robots forget numbers and throws juvenile slapstick into SW at every opportunity is going to kill off a young girl character from a show that is obviously geared towards those with 6-12 year old sensibilities?? Man, some people will NEVER lose the faith no matter how many times the ugly truth rears its head.
There is nothing... absolutely NOTHING... even remotely adult-themed in this new incarnation of Clone Wars to this point.
Read the tea leaves.
Ahsoka will not be killed off, she'll simply go into hiding or become a Jedi Knight and go off on her own never to be heard about in the CW again.
From what I understand the clone wars cartoon is aimed more at kids and the live action show is more darker and aimed at an older audience.
