If you don't mind building them yourself, Polar Lights/Round 2 has re-issued many of the AMT kits, with improved toolings on most, as well as their own excellent kits(their 1/1000 scale kits of the original and film Enterprise are outstanding). The big project in the works; a film model accurate 1/350 kit of the original 1701(at that scale it'll be 32"long!).Something to think about...PS

Trust me Geil, after having dealt with that model Avenger worked on, you're so much better off without the headache.
That Refit also Aoshima? Awesome looking display!

I know :p but still enterprise is always nicer on the other side ;)
The Refit is from Bandai using incandescent bulbs instead of LEDs but still looks nice and one thing they did better is they used acrylic light pipe/channels so lighting is more even where needed properly diffused.
The disappointing part on the Aoshima is that the windows are really just holes leading to the hollow core where you can clearly see the LEDs and wires in many angles which kills the illusion. As for the warp drive and deflector shield you do have the coloured acrylic covers but not much effort in diffusing the lighsource so you can still see the LED "hotspots" which kills the illusion :( For pictures with long exposure you can cover the fact but in hand it is kinda sad and disappointing for the price. This may deter me from getting any more in the future but who knows, really not many other options out there :(
Oh well yeah the stand really is not helping the presentation either though not much can be done, I certainly do not have a better idea. Then considering the Bandai cost me almost as much as the Aoshima .... (Bandai was also repainted but needed to put together yourself) I suppose I will still get other releases in the future
If I had a D the size of my MR MF and lit up I would truly be in heaven

Ah I see, up close the Aoshima isn't so nice which is news to me. Glad I didn't pick one up before if the windows are just holes with no coverings (or is it that there's no attempt to disguise the works on the inside?). The Aoshima D can't be disassembled to fix these issues? Sounds like another headache
I wish I picked up the Bandai kits for retail when I had the chance. Of them I really want the NX-01 and Voyager which is the most expensive of the kits. I heard that a problem with the Bandai kits was gaps at the seams that lets light bleed out. Still easier to fix that then the Aosima ship.

That is sad because the modern Romulan Warbird is simply a gorgeous piece of design.
From what I've heard the Diamond Klingon BOP will be a test to prove to the retailers that there is interest in alien ships, after that, they've hinted that the Romulan Warbird is high on their list. Unfortunately, it probably won't be to scale with their Enterprise D since the Warbird is twice the size.

Hmm I guess since everything is put together with screws taking it apart should not be difficult. Now making a acrylic diffuser will be difficult but I guess one could try to find some film or paper to achieve the same. The light leaking on the Bandai kit is minimal and looks better lit up then the D I think though I would prefer the color of the LEDs

Not as awesome as General Chang or Commander Kruge though.

The Chang outfit is definitely pretty awesome and that eyepatch has to be one of the coolest things, if not THE coolest thing, in ST history but I just wasn't a big fan of the bald look on him and he doesn't have that awesome cane that Gorkon had. I think his bald head could have been sculpted to look alot more interesting. I would luv to see Kruge and he could come with one or two of those Klingon hounds too, that would rock.

Interesting. Thank you for the news.

Frankly I have a hard time even imagining the 'real' size of these ships, let alone worrying about scale. If the Romulan Warbird or Klingon Bird of Prey are roughly the same size as the Enterprise D that is fine by me.

This line is coming back from the dead :rock

Yea, just like the Enterprise D they did a very good job on the BOP and Enterprise B and these like the D give you the option to leave the ship fully lit..awesome.

Only one issue I have, is they got rid of the landing gear.
Oh well, I'm sure they'll make a HMS Bounty version with new sound bites and landing gear, eventually.
I have mine on preorder with BBTS, hopefully it'll ship soon! :yess:

Take a gander at the "Star Trek head sculpts"thread in the custom section. Here's an example of what you'll see...
DSCN5078.jpg

Head sculpts and uniforms by Spenser, Chair by yours truly...PS

The "B" looks great. Annoyed (but not surprised) it's been pushed back... again.... at least it'll be here soon. Now I just need a C to make my collection complete!

Then it's time to make Voyager.
