And anyone who votes for SM isn't???

Not nescessarily. A good movie is a good movie period. I've been a Star Wars fan longer than I've been a Spider-Man fan and there is no question which films were better movies overall. For example, as a Bond fan, I love Pierce Brosnan as Bond, and I wish he was still playing 007, but his movies pretty much suck compared to CASINO ROYALE. I HATE (or at least really dislike Craig) but that doesn't stop me from realizing CR is the best Bond movie since LICENCE TO KILL.

You make a good point, Doc. I think sometimes it is hard to be objective when giving an opinion, especially when you are comparing something like Spider-Man and Star Wars. We have a lot of passionate Star Wars fans on this board and there is nothing wrong with that.
Sometimes the passion, as has been brought up by past members, turns into a bias that is hard to criticize objectively.
When it comes to James Bond I believe George Lazenby and On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a top 5 greatest Bond movies. A lot of people find it hard to give OHMSS it's just due because of their dislike of Lazenby.

Also, nothing against Seth for putting up this thread but it is really unfair to compare Spidey and SW. I am sure the debate is already there but a Lord of the Rings vs Star Wars would be a better match. Spider-Man vs Batman would be a good, complementary debate.

I think the PotC trilogy could easily beat out Spidey and the PT if World's End lives up to it's promise. But unlike SW or LotR, Spidey wasn't designed as a trilogy (nor was PotC for that matter) - although they did a good job in both cases of shoehorning it into a trilogy.

I think there's a bit a blind Lucas loyality in this thread, any of the SM movies could easily kick the ass of TPM or AOTC.

Now ROTS was a great film and is on a par with the SM trilogy IMO and the OT is even better, but we're talking PT here.

It's already been done in the movie/TV section a while ago, and i can't remember who won but i know it was close.

I applaud you for posing the question because, like Dave said, Spider-Man is not intended to be a trilogy. It is only a trilogy because there are 3 movies, so far.

Is Spider-Man "trilogy" worthy, I say yes because 3 really dives into the first Spider-Man movie. It brings them together, disecting the death of Ben Parker and the motives of the man who took his life.

The 3rd movie is supposed to bring the first 2 together if you believe what they said in Scream 3. Spider-Man 3 does just that.

Oh, and Seth, no disrespects, thank you for putting up such a topic. This is a great topic for debate. Good conversation piece.

Spider-Man Movies for me. Much Deeper films, had stronger themes and were more powerful. The PT just seemed like a trio of incomplete movies for Lucas to bank off of later with the missing scenes. They were good but lacked a lot of emotional content that the Spidey films had even if SM3 feels too busy. I think ppl choose SW because they like SW more. Speaking from a film point of view and not a fan I'd say that there is not much of a contest, The Spidey Movies are just better in almost every aspect. Lucas is just not that great of a director as ppl think he is, he's got good concepts but his drama and storytelling needs work. Overall I'm about the story and the Character development and to me the Spidey films totally own the SW films in that dept.

Spider-Man is better than the PT. If you think otherwise, you're fooling yourself. It's a FACT, not an opinion:rotfl

As a blind Lucas lover I can tell you it's true. Some people just can't come to terms with loving something because they WANT to vs. really liking it. Some people are genuine, but I know some have "fanboy fever."

I'm a Spider-Man fanboy through and through, but even I can except that not everything about Spider-Man is perfect.

The new movie is great but not brilliant and the last MTV cartoon series was absolutely diabolical, no wonder it only lasted a season.

There's no shame in pointing out what you do and don't like about something, as long as you're being constructive and not bashing.

Well. It looks Lucas is gonna win this one. :lsvader

I would also say that the Back To The Future trilogy wallops all over SM.

If anyone considers me a "biased fanboy" you'd be right--from a certain point of view. Going on to say "blind loyalty" wouldn't be accurate though. I like Star Wars more because well, I don't know why, I just do, but give me the choice of Star Wars or any other movie and I'll pick Star Wars. But if you want to start comparing individual movies its a little more shaky. Like I said in the other thread that spawned this one, I would rather watch Spidey3 over AOTC. So for me at least its not a case of, "I choose Star Wars because it's Star Wars and I must." But more of a case of "I choose Star Wars because I love Star Wars and choosing otherwise would be like choosing an ex-girlfriend over your wife of 9 years." So there.

P.S. Dave we really need a smiley blowing a raspberry.

First off if its OT SW vs SM no contest.

Ok now the PT vs SW thats tough.

I would say SM1 is the best of all of the 6, 2nd is a close tie between SM2 and ROTS, then you have AOTC, then PM, then SM3.

I'm have never been so happy that a theater screwed up and didnt take my ticket at SM3. I walked out walked up to ticket booth said I missed the movie and all other shows were sold so i got my Money back. SM3 was worth what I paid, but no worth the 10 buck I would have paid.

The first Back to the Future I enjoy more than any Spidey film and FAR more than any of the PT, but the sequels were just meh for me.
LOTR..OT........SM..BTTF.......Terminator................................................PT.

Wow even more closer today, i think thats a testament to how good the 3 films are in fans eyes.(plus givin how many SW fans are on this site)

Still 70 votes aint ****.

Just saw this a few days ago with my boys and I think that Venom was in it for an appropriate amount of time (nothing like the Vader in ROTS comparison), the darkside of Peter was adequately explored, and MJ didn't bug me nearly as much as she did in the other 2 movies.

The only I disliked about it was sometimes the CG was kinda video game-ish.
