SS got the hilt right. Note the black paint on the tips of the saber.

The black paint may be there, but the shape is wrong. It's too wide instead of the accurate narrow tip on the HT. Looks more like an MR/Hasbro BS bladed light up Saber with the oversized fat emitter as to accommodate the blade, rather than the narrow slim emitter that is more accurate to a prop replica like the MR hilt pictured above.

I have the MR battle damaged Maul Saber. It is a glorious piece and one of MR's most limited with only 750 made. Wanted the full size too, but didn't like that they included that undersized stand without a cover. Looks like you have the custom stand someone made for it to match the others. I could never find a decent price back in the day for the full size hilt I was willing to pay, so I decided to be happy with just the BD one. Now all the MR hilts go for insane prices. Maul's was the only one I paid full retail for ($300). All the others I own I managed to get a good 20% or so off the retail price.

I got the Hot Toys inner robe to put on this guy. A definite improvement as it is a little more loose fitting, which is accurate, and the folds across the shoulders and chest are definitely more screen accurate. Need to futz around a little more but really liking the look:

That looks great, RogueRunner! I was gonna do the same to mine.

There’s a small stitch about mid chest on the front of the HT inner robe, you can see it in your pic where it kinda bunches the folds together. If you’ll snip that it will allow the folds to lay even more accurately.

As much as I like the neutral PERS head on the DX, when I am able to potentially buy it, if the full DX isn't an option, the costume upgrade to my Sideshow will be my second choice, that looks much better, really gives that "full" look Maul's robes have.

The SS robes are a little tight fitting alright but i'm ok with them as i hope to have the HT DX version around xmas...i did re-painted the eyes though...

The Sideshow robes are nice and certainly a dramatic improvement over their first Maul figure. I am only considering an upgrade because an ultimate Maul figure is something worth working on for me, and there are traits to his look that I strive for and this fix seems to achieve, but if I were just a collector preferring stock figures, there would be nothing wrong with Sideshow out of the box.

Eye re-paint certainly makes them pop more...i just painted the irises red...then some yellow...then 2 thin coats of clear gloss.

Then i used a cocktail stick for the pupils and finished off with another 2 coats of clear gloss...
