You are correct. The examples that I mentioned like the driving episode and so forth, are never seen in the manga and never referenced in anything but the anime and the anime only. While some of these episodes of Super might seem like they can be skipped, even the the first couple of episodes, though they were more slice of life, had little seeds planted for upcoming conflicts, specifically for the BOG retelling. Now we have the same setup again, this time laying groundwork for both the ROF retelling vastly approaching, and the entirely new content with the conflict with Champa coming immediately afterwards.

So I went to Image Anime today in NY and got a glimpse of Awakened Goku and I can't freaking wait for him to come out. His sculpt is fan ****ing tastic but the shading doesn't seem nearly as nice as it appears in the Tamashii 2015 pics. Still, one impressive figure.

so just watched Super episode 17..

still a lot of filler but they are finally catching up to the events of Resurrection Freeza. time is starting to progress, and i hope Goten/Trunks physicality reflects that eventually. just imagine if they kept Gohan the same he was from the Saiyan Saga, all the way up to the Cell Saga. that would've been ridiculous, right? and it seems that's exactly what they wanna do with Goten & Trunks. By the time of Episode 17, the events of the Buu Saga was several years ago so why do they still look exactly the same? They can't be small children forever, Toriyama. they should look more or less like Teen Gohan at this point. if not Goten then at least Trunks, since he was born during the Cell Saga! Sheesh..

gonna be interesting to see what differences there will be between the film & the show. and Champa is finally gonna make his debut next episode (but prolly towards the end of it, so technically the episode after next)

btw it's funny seeing iPhones/Androids being used in the Dragon Ball universe

Hopefully this Saga plays out better than the BoG one cuz honestly it seemed to drag on in certain areas. There's a lot that can be fixed from the movie and I hope they take advantage of it.

This episode was kinda whack compared to the last one. Nothing interesting really happened but I LOVED when Goku smashed though the wall

It looks like Vegeta may even be stronger than Goku at this point. Now perhaps its time for Goku to do the catching up. Oh please make it so, even if it's temporary! It was interesting how Goku couldn't sense Vegeta's ki. Maybe it's cuz he's a god already...

Holy crap is Chi Chi annoying. More so than before. I'm not saying they should kill her off but I wouldn't mind if Beerus "accidentally" slaps the life out of Chi Chi lol.

I typically only go there to check out their displays and occasionally buy something. They mark up mostly everything but there are a few deals to be had if you're lucky and look carefully. I also go to Midtown Comics and Kinokuniya Bookstore while I'm there too since they also carry Figuarts and Figma. Forbidden Planet is cool too but it's not really as anime friendly as the other places.

With my latest experiences with them, I'd say February, March lol. I think for the DBZ figs though they're pretty good with getting their shipments and sending them out. I'd say end of November to mid December since they always tend to have some lag. I've just had some bad luck with other Figuarts I've ordered recently from them.

Exactly how I felt too. Nothing really happened in this episode, which is why I called it "filler." Just another casual day in the life of the Z crew. Everything that's happening, we know already so nothing really drastic if you skip it. I laughed when Goku smashed thru the wall, that was pretty damn funny cuz I wasn't expecting that to happen. Although I would like to see a unique process to how Goku & Vegeta become SSGSS thru Whis' training, other than "punching & kicking over n over till they get better."
