It's a fun popcorn flick however the constant one-liners & witty quips throughout the entire script are annoying. It's like there should be a *ba-dum-tsss* at the end of each one-liner that was said

I keep reading it's one of those movies you should watch twice or 3 times to fully appreciate it (which is sometimes true with blockbuster movies, you catch things here n there that you may have missed the first time watching it). I'll catch it online later tonight, maybe my opinion will change for the better. But I wouldn't say it "sucked" by any means. Oh yeah, and X-Men Quicksilver>>>Avengers Quicksilver. Sorry Marvel Studios but it's true.

I was totally disappointed in how they chose to represent Quicksilver's super speed. After DoFP, I had too high of expectations for the character.

Don't think this is the place to get into it much but pretty much this^. MCU QS was an annoying brat - yeah I did see that comink. No you're not alone FSLAR, in fact, overall speaking, we're in the majority, just not on this board apparently, not that surprised. Even plenty of marvel loving critics admit DoFP is in nearly every way the better version. Especially on a technical level that's just clear.
My 2 cents (there aren't actual spoilers in here ftr, just for space saving):

I'm not a very invested MCU fan, I'll say that outright even having liked Avengers, Winter Soldier and GotG, but still this film managed to disappoint me – especially after really liking the first trailer, but none of that was in this film, it was cookie cutter to the max as usual. Felt like eating a whole bowl of cake batter, by the end I was utterly desensitised and was just like 'more!?' really!? sigh'. Everything is way too overdone, CGI looks crap for modern standards, SO much in this film makes no sense and the quips-per-min ratio is through the roof, which I didn't just found annoying, it degraded the lines in there that were actually good or funny. I had hopes for Ultron but he's flatout a one dimensional goofy disney villain.

I don't get why people think this was impressively written, it has next to not real plot and everything is in the service of formulaic fanboy ****-moments. The only thing I genuinely really liked was Vision, but he's utterly underused within a film that's beneath the level of that character in the film. Eventually it ends up mostly just making everything else look even dumber. Like Kofi from screenrant said quite aptly 'the only AI in this is the marvel marketing machine', cause Ultron was just a literal deus ex machina to provide yet another boring villain out for destruction – there's no way to understand him at all, let alone attribute any layers to him that make sense or have something sincere to say. Also on a cinematic technical level it's clear Whedon's running a marathon for stuff that a Singer or a Snyder does with a feeling of effortlessness. He made a good choice leaving.

It was a fun over-the-top night out for me that feels like something crazy you do once in a while for the **** of it, but that's really ALL it is and that's just not at all applaudable to me when plenty of blockbusters these days deliver cinema that combines spectacle with real art and meaning to it. In 2012 with Avengers it had the new-factor, but since then the game has just been upped too much to forgive this movie's messy and shallow content (save a few moments, widow and hulk, vision). Honestly it's the writing level of an animated feature but this is a live action film. It's clearly a film aimed at kids a lot who'll probably find it an exciting ride if they like superheroes, but as an adult I say 5,5/10 (C+ish). If it didn't pretend to be more than the action comedy it is I'd grade it higher but it clearly wants to engage its audience on deeper levels and that is just a fail.

Honestly, no comparison. Days of Future Past took a minor role and made it memorable. Quicksilver in Age of Ultron, unless he's brought back in the future, will be a forgettable character in a few months.

I absolutely hate when a trailer is misleading. I understand it's for marketing purposes but it goes to show, to me personally, how dishonest it is to give the viewers a wrongful impression of what to expect from the movie. I was extremely looking forward to this movie, especially for Ultron. I was given the impression that he would be cold, calculating, ruthless, and unstoppable. ...I got that impression slightly at the beginning of the film when he was introduced and it went down hill from there into a tongue-in-cheek parody. Ultron became a horrible villain. I was against Tony Stark being the "creator" of Ultron from the beginning and the movie perfectly backs up my claim.

Vision stole the movie from me.

Him picking up Mjolnir could have been handled a lot better than a plot device to portray him as a good guy.

I didn't mind that he did it, I just think it could have been engaging and meaningful. I'm looking forward to the Russo brothers coming in. I could understand why Joss Whedon is burned out just by watching the movie.

It's just, I'm sorry but trading any form of reason in just to have a funny end note sums up exactly why I find the MCU nothing but children's movies. Everything is solved by unrealistic deus ex machinas, there are no debates settled. Just brought up but nothing has any intellectual level to it.

I couldn't agree more with your takes on AoU. It's clear Whedon was punching way above his weight with the original Avengers. In AoU character arcs are stunted (and sometimes non-existent), plots are confused and fizzle out to nothing, and there's a villain, who even though is chock-full of witty banter, never steps outside of a one-dimensional evil-doer with no real motivation other than "I went on the internet and now I hate the world." Stay off tumblr, man.

Ultron never struggled with his decision. He never weighed options or considered alternatives. He displays no self-doubt. We've proven he has feelings like a moody teenager (and lips to match) so where is the full gamut off emotions outside of a stand-up comedian/bond villain trope? This is a character who is the antithesis of Iron Man. Why didn't we explore the father/son angle more? I needed Tony to be held more accountable. His AI almost destroys the world and there's no fallout. It's cool, bro, don't worry. Here's a new building in upstate New York. Btw, if you hear from the Hulk again let us know because he kind of destroyed a city.

The whole story should have revolved around the fallout of the decisions made by Stark and Banner, but that's lost. Black Widow has her story stuffed into an already overburdened film. And we get a relationship between Widow and Banner that comes out of nowhere. Instead, Whedon should have explored the already-established relationship between Banner and Stark more deeply. He should have had them fallout with each other. Science Bros breakup. If only Scarlet Witch could have actually torn the team apart, as the trailer promised. And the Hulkbuster scene should have been bumped to the end of the film. Instead the climax is, oh more robots, that's new and different.

Without focusing the central plot around Stark and Banner (instead flip-flopping, trying to decide the whole film who the movie is actually about) they lost the gravity of a lot of the world-shattering events, which were all but brushed off by the end. Banner is clearly the most fleshed out character in this movie, with the most substantial arc, but he never has to atone for his actions. The hulkbuster scene should have torn the Avengers apart. Instead the Hulk goes into self-exile and is basically forgiven for everything. They missed a perfect chance to set up a Planet Hulk situation here. Bottom line, the whole thing feels strained because I don't think Whedon knows what lessons he wants the characters to leave the film with.

I'm glad the Russo brothers are taking the helm. Imo, Winter Soldier is the best mcu film so far.

Exactly! I went into this film with Joss Whedon saying that he's going to tackle the issues from the first Avengers to what Batman v. Superman is going to do with the issues from Man of Steel. (I had a lot of issues with the first Avengers. I enjoyed the 2nd half but it was a such a huge game changer that it needed further development.) Not once did I feel anything was completely solved. I mean, ****, the next big film is Civil War. EVERYTHING was laid out for the end to gather and propel us into Civil War but Whedon ended everything on a ****ing HAPPY NOTE! I completely lost it with that.

Joss Whedon said that this movie would be about "death, death, and more death." and I'm still trying to figure out when that movie is going to be released because it sure as **** wasn't Age of Ultron.

Vision flatout vindicates Stark attitude and that's RIDICULOUS. Stark was willing to do the same ucking ******* move by messing with **** beyong him under the monniker "were mad scientists brah". The stupdist thing regarding civil war is Cap utterly pussied out. He was right. Stark was doing the exact same move that led to ultron and because Thor takes an acid bath trip and makes the call, stark is totally unaccounted. It's ridiculous. This film should've ended on a fall out. I had the same as you Ang, how the **** can this end on a cheerioh note knowing what happened, and where it's heading.

I give this film thelowest pass because it simply was entertaining, but it's a joke pretending to be more than a joke, and for that I go hard on it. You can't have your cake nd eat it too. If you wanna deal with real issues, your solutions have to be at least somewhat as real. This movie is all bark and no bite. Everything is done to setup fanboy moments. Whedon gets a few minor sincere things in but he's shackled up by Feigi and as you say fat, reaching above his capabilities to juggle it all. It's as if I could hear whedon gasping for air throughout this thing.

Absolutely. That should have been a jaw-dropping moment, instead it was used for humor (once again). I understand the reason for it, it's an easy way to get us to trust Vision, but we meet this dude and 30 seconds later he's picking up mjolnir and BAM! he's an Avenger. There would have been more distrust, especially coming from Cap. I needed a lot more Cap/Stark conflict in this film. We should have met the Vision after the team had been torn asunder.

That's one of my biggest problem with this film. Stark gets rewarded for not learning his lesson. Wtf kind of character development is that? And as you touched on Sil, the SHIELD deus ex machina at the end made me wanna gag. SHIELD was gone for what? like half a film? I really missed them...
