earth 2062
approximately 100 years since the introduction of computers into the work and home environment there has been suspicions that the global recession, first known as the credit crunch, that has now lasted for 50 years and more, is due to the fact that defence companies and government agencies have been researching, developing and installing synthetic humanoid lifeforms into key areas of everyday life.
dreams of utopian lifestyles, an ordered, caring society fall by the wayside as all attempts to achieve perfect harmony between all peoples are now deemed as fruitless as it is in human nature to destroy one another for one pointless reason or another.
earth is at a stand-still. all natural resources gone. wars, famines and climate change all contributing factors. the only way out is onwards and upwards.
resources first identified by the early voyager and mars probes are now within reach. mined off-world by these artificial lifeforms, a steady trickle back from space has proved invaluable. their adaptability and service records have been proven time after time in civil, military and policing applications. over the course of their deployment to the far reaches of space, shipments of the new found precious metals, ores and minerals have been hijacked. this band of mercs are in dispute that work and exploration rights including mining contracts should be held and worked by humans and not artificials. these four ringleaders are now global enemy number one.
hacking into the mainframe at the apple corps, suspicions are confirmed as these four mercs find out that early 21st century world leaders are infact artificial units. perfect in every way except one…..the lack of sweat. evidence of a global artificial elite controlling our very existence…..from the time we wake and brush our teeth, to the time we then pop a pill and go to sleep. they have evidence but who can they tell? who do they trust? certainly not the government. how about the military? what about the police department? we don’t even know if the media is unaffected!
heroes or anti-heroes [depending on which side of global business you are] this lowly band of four begin their underground struggle against the machine and the introduction of an automated society devoid of all human emotion.
tom is armed with an acid grenade and standard light sub machine gun, great for close combat.
^^^^ is armed with an antique mg34 stolen from the museum of antiquities. old, but still very effective. the head unit is a modified chopper helmet with infa-red sights. also incorporated into the sighting system is an aura read-out. this detects the faint blue aura that emanates from the artificial lifeforms.
harry has an antique pistol also stolen from the museum of antiquities. the rifle is state of the art emp phased burst with an effective and focused range of 50 metres. he also carries in his belt an emp phased grenade with a range of two blocks.
mary is armed with a high power 9mm side arm with explosive tip rounds. the blankets are heat absorbing thus cutting down on the infa-red signature at night.
harry and mary carry evidence from two destroyed artificials, the ai head units.
