Nikon or canon ?

Someone can help me with this desicion , I'm thinking of buying a professional camera, which is better ?

haven't yet made the plunge but i've been told Canon is the way to go, and seem to be more user friendly. though it could be just what you're use to.

I say Canon all the way. If this is your first time jumping into the higher end models, my suggestion is the Canon Rebel XSi. That's the one I use now and it was my first high end camera. Even though it may seem daunting at first cause it has quite a few options, it's a really good option for your first camera in this area. All you need is a little patience and don't be afraid to experiment with the different options.

This is a never-ending debate. In reality, it just boils down to your own personal tastes. I prefer Canon, but that doesn't make Nikon bad cameras or less than Canons.

I have a Nikon D100 and have been very happy with it... but what the others have said... both are good. You might want to do some research on the web for the models you're interested in and look at actual reviews.

You will be happy with both, for me Nikon fitted better in the hand then Canon, plus that my father allready had plenty of lenses for that system so i went with a Nikon D60 a few years back. Really happy with it. Its still me not the camera that is the limit.

A small advice is not to buy a camera with a kit lens. The lens is 80% of the image quality, buy only the hous and spend some dollars on the lens.

It depends with a canon the ui is really noob friendly and many setting's are automatically picked for the best picture etc. but for me i use and always use a nikon it's a camera that isnt very user friendly at first but you can grow into the camera.

Hey, I noticed your detail. I'm a big fan of Alexander McQueen too. Pure genius. He's the reason I got into fashion. S/S 2003 was the one that started it all. May he rest in peace.

Back to topic. Canon. Always. God, I feel like a whore hawking this brand to everyone!

I use Canon, my wife uses Nikon. They're both great. If you're going for Canon, wait for the 550d or X2IB whatever the hell they're going to call it to drop, it'll lower prices on the older models.

If you're going Nikon, they've started activating their rebates on D90/D300s + lens deals, in a day or two they should be at most major online shops like Amazon. If you're not going that high-end, unfortunately you missed some great clearance deals a few months back.

I'd say at this time Canon is the way to go. But as with everything it changes.

I agree with the consensus. Neither is better or worse than the other, just different. Each brand has it's own strengths and weaknesses.

The UI on the camera can be a big deciding factor for many people. Some find Canon's to be more intuitive (as I do), but some are much more at home with Nikon's (even some who are fairly new to photography).

What might be a bigger question is, which format has the lenses that you will want/need to use. A few years ago that was my brother's reason for switching from Canon to Nikon, although he eventually switched back. Personally, I love Canon's glass, and have gotten some superb results with it. In fact, I'm going to add a couple of new lenses to my bag over the next few months.

Yes, he was a genius and it's very unfortunate that he's gone but I wasn't surprised about his apparent suicide....

Anyway, his last runway show was without a doubt, a masterpiece. It was out of this world, perfect highlight to his legacy...

I have a cannon that I use for taking all the shots I post. Its a great camera and for me takes great shots or at least shots I'm happy and not afraid to post.
