I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Casino Royale. If Quantum is anything like that I'll be happy. The trailer looks great.

I also miss the gadgets, not the more outlandish ones like the Vanish, but the subtler ones like the exploding pen and the various watches. I don't think those are any worse than being poisoned and defibrillating yourself... Having SPECTRE will be nice to have back if that is indeed where they are going with it.

I think my big disappointment in the series is that when I heard they were doing Casino Royale I really wanted to see Bond's first mission, but set in the 50's and being against SMERSH.

I think it's unreasonable to expect them to suddenly time-travel back half a century and tell a story just because that's the time period the book was set in. There wasn't a chance they were going to do that. While of course things had to be changed to update the story and make it more modern, Casino Royale was very faithful to the original novel. It's still Bond's first major mission. He's still going up against Le Chiffre. The story at its core remained the same, only as with any adaptation, there's additions and subtractions, but it's still very true to Fleming.

They're bringing back a SPECTRE-like organization and perhaps some more realistic gadgets like the ones from FRWL or OHMSS will be seen as well. Although this one isn't based directly on a story from Fleming, I have little doubt that the character and story will remain very close to the source.

Not sure about the aerial scenes. Bond is a crack shot and a rally-class driver, sure I buy that. Bond is a pilot that can dogfight in airspace as restricted as that? Stretches credulity a bit.

That's just a minor quibble, I'm crazy about Bond and I will be seeing it as soon as it comes out.

I think staying true to the main points of Casino Royale is why I liked it as much as I did. I really hope I like this one too.

Any idea what this organisation that's everywhere but they know nothing about is? Spectre possibly?

I've never been a huge Bond fan but I really enjoyed Casino Royale and I'm looking forward to seeing Quantum. Will go to the cinema, but probably not until a few weeks after it's released to give the crowds a chance to die down. I'm not bothered enough to have to push through loads of people to see it first.

Looks good though

Not sure if they'll call it SPECTRE or SMERSH, but it looks to be the same kind of deal. Hopefully we'll find out in the new film. I love how they've set it up. This is the first time in the series that there's really been a consistency between films in that this is somewhat a continuation of the previous film. I like that. Shakes things up a bit.

I think that's what's been missing from Bond.

We haven't had any real sort of arching villain since the Blofeld days. When I first watched Casino Royale I figured right at the end Bond would interrogate Mr White and find the name of the group he was working for was Spectre, which was where the film would end, but things didn't quite pan out that way.

I read an interview in Empire saying that whatever this organisation is, it would be around for longer than Quantum and just spit out a "front" villain every new film as Bond gets closer and closer to unmasking it.

In a lousy year where nothing has gone right I just have to exist till November to see the one great thing to happen this year.
:007 Bond>God
And I highly doubt that the organization will be SMERSH or the Special Executive for Counterintelligence. Terrorism, Revenge, & Extortion. The former was flattened under the collapse of the Iron Curtain and the second is owned by a lunatic. So unless the true Bond owners have wrested it from his feeble grasp I'd bet this is a new organization. If it is SPECTRE though I would be very happy.

Ah, that's right, I had forgotten they can't use SPECTRE. They could still use SMERSH, they would have to change its origins since it was originally an arm of Russian espionage. If the head guy is Russian that could explain the use of the name. Or they could always use Benson's Union. :monkey4

Well, Quantum of Solace looks to begin with that very sequence as it picks up only moments after the ending of Casino Royale.

My am getting very eager for this movie. The last one turned out very good and I am sure this will not disapoint.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I am a long time Bond fan, and the trailer looks technically ALOT better than Casino Royale (which I saw 7 times in theaters,) and maybe it's the waiting time, or maybe it's Craig (who I am not a fan of,) but I just cannot get that excited about it.

I'll probably more pumped closer to the film's release.

Love the shot of the crash through the top of the glass ceiling.

Things have been so busy at work, I'm catching all the news like three days later, lol.

That shot is killer. People on IMDB are crying foul because its either CGed or just used different takes, and bluescreen. It looks badass. Craig freakin owns. My favorite Bond. He doesnt take any ^^^^ from anyone. Connery and Dalton are close behind. Brosnen is in his own awesome league. Moore was good at times, but too silly other times. Lazenby was pretty great, especially at the end with his wife. Shame we didnt see him go further.

Dalton is no Bond. He's Sissy Skinner.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl He was PERFECT as Sissy. :D One of my favorite parts of that movie. :lol

I'm really looking forward to this - loved Casino Royale - love Craig as Bond - should be a very fun ride. :)

Dalton and Craig are the two "best" Bond's, if you ask me. They both are very true to Fleming. While Moore remains my "favorite." Yeah, there's a difference. ;)

Here is my ranking:
1. Roger Moore
2. Sean Connery
3. Timothy Dalton/Pierce Brosnan
4. Peter Sellers

5. Daniel Craig
6. George Lazenby
