I am not a customizer (nor a photographer) so this is it. One NECA Batman wearing a Black Series Darth Vader cape.

I think it looks much better than the thin piece of nylon that came with the figure. Of course I would prefer the bat scallops at the end but I'm awful at cutting and sewing. I'd ruin it. So I just try to bunch it up to make it look like there's edges in there.

Yeah that looks good. I'd like to find a fabric that looks like leather, but drapes well.

Made some arrangements, perfected the template, made a plastic template and cut out a new cape. This one hangs even better than the last one, I'm happy with it. I think I'm going to do one for West and Bale next.

I know this is a bit of an older thread, but do you have dimension you can share for your cape template? I'd love to make one of my own.

Thanks for the template DiFabio

I think I got the correct material at Joan’s but it’s still not draping right or Atleast the way I want it to. Gonna try some hot water treatment

Okay after some futzing the cape drapes a lot better now. If anyone is curious I used Difabio’s template and B6 fabric select from Yaya Hans selection of cosplay fabrics at Joan’s

Looks great, thanks for the fabric recommendation. I feel like I'm missing something, I went looking and couldn't find DiFabio's template posted to download, saw pics of the WIP but didn't see something we could use to cut new fabric and I'd love to upgrade this figure, the cape is really the only major weakness with the stock figure.

Yeah, I'm not interested in the rods. I just want it to match the Battle Damaged, TWayne knows what's up.

At the same time, I wanted to try to make my own capes with the same and similar material for different versions (in the film he had different lengths). I'm just having trouble coming up with a nice template before I start cutting the expensive fabric I bought.

I know Tony Mei's looks like this,

Albeit a smaller neck hole (it's about 5.50" from the back panel scallop to the neck).

But I'm looking for something more accurate, this is what I came up with,

I'm stuck at the moment. I'd copy your template TWayne, but I don't want to pull the cape off my Battle Damaged you did for me since it's glued down permanently. Figured I'd make my own.

I used the second template

The figure itself looks so small without the cape. Like a cosplayer or something.

Bought me an 50 mm lens. Did a photo session. First up 89 Batman Battle Damaged

What’s the best type of material to use for a custom cape on this guy - and where would I go about ordering some?

I tried making a cape for one of these 6” NECA Keaton Batmen that I‘m trying to convert to a Returns version, but the inside of the cape is a weird almost fuzzy material compared to the outside which is leathery.

I traced the stock NECA cape but drew the front ends closer together so they drape around the shoulders better, but I need to make it longer if I make another.
