I think it's a common practice with new posters. I remember my first few threads (with photos, too I think) had to be moderated before posting. Then after about 5 or so, they didn't.

probably because most new members are just spammers. and they want to make sure that you are not one.

Also, learn the sections and search function. It gets annoying when new members post questions that have already been answered numerous times
