Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Had a death in the family and I had a work truck in my biz bite the dust, so progress has been slow....

Hope it gets painted over this weekend, then back to the foam work. :hi5:

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Love the design and look. Wish I had the talent to do something similar. Keep up the great work.

Nice room by the way.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

It's looking good man. Nice music room, btw. I wish I could play an instrument. When I was younger my grandfather tried to teach me guitar. He had a band in the 50s and 60s I think. Anyway he used his guitar from them to teach me. It was a neat looking one but we didn't think much about it. Then we where watching a documentary one night about the most valuable guitars and the one listed #1 was the one we had been playing around with. Lol at that time (in the 90s) guitars where worth a lot more then now. Ended up taking it to a vintage guitar store (elderly instruments..great store if your ever looking for anything. It's in Lansing Michigan) and they checked it out and told my grandpa it was worth like 300k. Lol it was a 1956 Gibson Flying V, serial number 3. Third one ever produced. Back when he got the guitar gibson was out of Kalamazoo Michigan and my grandfather (a stone mason) worked on the building. Got to know some of the people and they told him about he guitar coming out and he bought it without ever seeing it. Ended up being a good investment. Lol I've got some pics we took somewhere(been a long time) I'll see if I can find them. Was a nice guitar. Lol anyway...after finding all that out that was the end of guitar lessons. Lol

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

That's incredible. #3 V?! What!? That's awesome. Great story, thanks for sharing. I know Elderly Inst. not sure if I've bought from them, but I know of them. I've played since I was in 10th grade. 33 years? (Yikes) :p

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Yeah it was crazy after we learned how unique the guitar was. It had just been sitting in a case under his bed for 30yrs till I asked to learn. It was a purty guitar. Lol but it's now in a case at hard rock on display. They where the ones that bought it eventually.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

I think it went to the casino one in Tampa. But I'm not 100% sure.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Old instruments have souls. Lol that's what i told myself. End up with 6 vintage basses.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Wood putty/filler in nail holes etc today. Put in 4-5 hours sanding also. Nothing interesting enough for pix Lol. :p

Close to starting painting :)

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

The fun stuff. Filer and sanding. Lol takes you longer then most any other task and if you do it right no one will ever see it. Lol gotta love that job, right?

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Yes :p And you have to do some areas a few times. [at least I have].

But it will be worth it. I'm ready to get back to the actual diorama work. :gah:

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Installed light rail yesterday....give the 'broadway stage' lighting on faces/figures.

And moved it into the room today :) Yay! :yess: Also added the little pillar bases at the bottom of each post. I think it adds a little flare.

Painting starts tomorrow......finally!!
