Molding rubber?

I am looking to buy this bandana piece on eBay or here but I can't find one, so I guess my best option is to make one using some of my toybiz LOTR cape. question though is how do I make them have the peg to go in the hole.

Their cape is made out of rubber, will try to cut them, my only concern is how to make that piece that goes in the hole.

If you cut it from real cloth and soak the ends with super glue you will get a stiff piece that can be jammed into the hole.

Or you can make the knot thing around the (reduced?) head of a (sawn off?) nail or plastic pin.
