Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I don't think anyone was fooled into thinking the first Joker sculpt was 100% on, if you did you are an idiot :lol The rest of the figure was good but that head was always a turd.

When I see this I see Reeve, no mistaking it. Nothing is 100%, but I'd say this is about as close as we get in 1/6.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Sucks to be the minority nitpickers on this forum. Let the guy have his opinion.

As to the comparison shot, I think it's hard to compare the eyes to different photos. One photo CR might be squinting and not in the next, so that can easily be relative to the context of the movie still. I certainly don't see Asian in this figure. I do think tweaking the eyes could yield some benefit. But, it's not even remotely important enough to affect my strong devotion to preordering this ASAP.

:goodpost:

I agree. Just because there are shots of Reeve where his eyes look bigger doesn't mean this doesn't look just like Reeve.

And yeah, I don't see Asian at all.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

My only complaint with the sculpt and the only thing I'd like to see worked on is the nose. The eyes and everything else look fine to me. I don't even think it's that far off, but just the tiniest corrections would make it almost perfect. I'm fine if this is what we get, but do think it could be better.

Looks great. Will buy. Feeling tempted to buy 2 after saying I'd only buy one just the other day :banghead

I'll save it for when you're the first to comment on the next one that comes out.:hi5:
It is possible that HT can do a better sculpt with a different expression, but it's not gonna beat this one by much I would wager.

All right.
We finally got the full reveal. Does this mean that Winter will finally end and we can move into Spring? :wink1:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Fantastic. That's all I have to say. Let me know when sideshow has the exclusive up, I'm buying two.

So damn good.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Usually Sideshow only let you get one. . .unless you are being sneaky *wags finger*

I've noticed that they have been allowing you to buy more than one exclusive of the Hot Toys figures lately, but they'll charge you an NRD if you choose to do so.

It feels like 1987 when I see this! :rock

Use to hunt and hunt shops on holiday in Torquey yet nobody had the little 6 inchers. My god that is just gorgeous.

The figure is giving me an appreciation of that old suit I didn't have before. Up to now I've always thought that suit is badly dated, fathers for justice pyjama 'superhero suit' but it sure does look good on this figure.

It's important to me because I wanted this to be in the 100% nailed it likeness camp as Hot Toys has achieved many times, because this movie character is as important to me as few others. The problem here isn't squinting. The squinting pictures of Reeve don't match this figure either, and the eyes on the figure don't look like they were molded to look like they were squinting since the rest of the facial features don't jive with a squinting look. And you can't find Reeve giving any expression that matches this figure. Any pictures of Reeve squinting seem even further off the mark from this.

For comparison's sake, I assembled some review links showing Hot Toys likenesses that nailed it 100% below and ones that missed the mark (I left out the just decent ones). I'm still trying to decide if this Reeve missed the mark or is at least passable. Not saying the ones that miss the mark aren't still better than what other companies put out, but this discussion is just about comparing Hot Toys to the bar they set for themselves. Usually the flubs, as with Reeve's, are because they have that White-Asian look around their eyes (a la Jennifer Tilly or Keanu Reeves, people who are half-Asian often have a distinct look to their eyes different from whites or asians). What's unfortunate is so many of their recent figures have been nailing it and most of the flubs are in the past. So this Reeve is a big step back.
