Has anyone encounter a situation that the tracking shows delivered "left on the front door", but when you get home, its gone? Next step is to contact the seller?

USPS here is really bad about that. They'll mark it left at the door and it'll be either at the mailbox drop box or back at the station.

Clearly the fault of USPS and not the seller's fault but sadly the seller is responsible until you receive it...if it was an Ebay purchase this may be one of the rare occasions where they actually side with the seller if it shows as "delivered" though...

Its probably back back at the ups location near year... Not many people take pride in their work anymore, he probably selected whatever option that popped up first when checking the item out. If u live in an apartment complex in a shady area then yes it could be stolen.

Even if it was insured USPS is such a mess that they probably would reject the claim based upon the tracking showing it was delivered...in fairness how would anyone be able to prove that it was NOT in fact delivered...?

show us the signature receipt.

I am guessing that it was shipped without signature confirmation since the OP said tracking showed it was left at the front door...

then the post office won't be able to prove that they indeed delivered the item. now the cops would have to bring in the guy who made the delivery, and also the recipient to record down their statements. probably have to use the phonebook method to make them tell the truth.

If the item was more than $250, and paid for with paypal - A signature confirmation is a paypal requirement, and they will side with the buyer.
Otherwise, the buyer gets nothing.

Cops don't investigate postal issues, that is the postal inspectors.

Buyer get everything as long as they file a dispute, 9/10 times.

Signature confirmation means nothing, there's 101 excuses to file a dispute. even when the buyer buys something by his own error or just doesn't like that micro scratch hidden underneath.

Even with signature buyer can claim he got a piece of rock. unless seller can show proof like an uncut video recording of him packing the items and handing it to the courier.
