And now for the 2nd WORST episode of Buffy I've seen thus far:
The one where John Ritter turns out to be a Robot!

NEVER have I liked the start, and had such high hopes for an
episode, only to be totally crushed by the stupidity of the outcome. :cry :bang :curse :rage :bonk

I can suspend disbelief, but OMFG! What were they thinking?
Even worse, as the setup was great, and John Ritter did a
totally fantastic job of his part at the beginning.

BTW, my least favorite Buffy so far is the one in the first season
with the Praying Mantis. That one was beyond bad for me.

Onward and upward! :toast

TED was great!, yes the prayin mantis was bad.

Those are probably the weakest Buffy episodes, but I'd still rather watch them than most of the crap that is currently on TV.

The first part of TED indeed WAS great, that is why it hurt so
much to see the ending play out so stupidly. No questions as
to where, how, or why Ted was a robot? Not even the least
but curious on an investigation? Buffy and her mom thought
that Buffy had KILLED a person, and it is all fixed up fine and
dandy like nothing happened with no repercussions. Buffy's
mom was in "love" with Ted, and the fact that he was killed
by her daughter, and then found to be a ROBOT! :bonk :bang2
didn't even phase her for any extended period of time.

Well, enough ranting! Suffice to say, I didn't like the ending.

On to many more (and hopefully better) Buffy episodes! :yay :carrot

I you thought "Ted" was bad, wait until you see "Bad Eggs! :eek

But, with "Surprise," the show comes of age.

If you were disappointed by the whole Ted ending thing....How'd you feel finding out Pennywise was a giant paper mache spider in IT?

FF - You're right - Bad Eggs was very bad as well IMHO, BUT
the difference for me was that it didn't start of GREAT, only
to pull the rug out from under me like TED did.

ironman - IT is one of my favorite books, that just was translated
very badly on-screen. The ending on-screen was pretty bad,
visually, but that is an ending that is confusing anyways.

I mostly like the story of the kids growing up, and all of the
trials and tribulations that they go through together.

I've only got seasons 1 & 2, so hopefully those are in there.
If not, I'm waiting for my Super-Mega-Monster-Buffy-Box-Set
to get the whole series, and then I'll continue my exploites into
the Buffyverse!

JS - if you're anything like me, after you finish season 2, you won't be able to wait until November to see season three. If you CAN, well... you are stronger than I. Kudos.

OK - Here are my next 3 episode reviews - some spoilers:

Surprise - good, but not great. Too much smoochy for me, as
I'm older, and it is just annoying and wierd for me to see that.

Innocence - Good to Very Good! I like Angel as a bad guy, and
he ranks right up there with Spike on that front. I'm looking
forward to what occurs from her foreward with he and Buffy.

Phases - Good - the suit/makeup for Oz looks pretty bad, but
as it is a TV show I guess it is what it is. The gold standard
of all time is still The Howling, so this pales in comparison.

I'll add more as I watch 'em! 8o

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm on Angel Season 1 Disk 2 and enjoying the parallels to Buffy episodes. Really enjoyed Spike in "In the Dark" at the beginning. :rollin

Loved Ted! But, loved John Ritter too so anything he was in was good and it was fun seeing him play a bad guy.

And I would absolutely love a talking Buffybot figure! Someone should get Sideshow to read this thread to see how enthusiastically that idea has been met with.

And I think FF should be the person that decides what figures are going to be made next because his banners are always great.

Nope BD - I meant The Howling. If you look at AWwiL, the
werewolf is a fixed-faced figure, just like the one in Buffy.
The expression NEVER changes. Once noticed, it looks pretty
ridiculous. That, plus the knowledge that in AWwiL was just
a guy laying down on a board to make it look like the werewolf
was running, just took too much away from the creature for me.
Now the movie itself is GREAT, and is still one of my favorites,
it is just the "frozen-faced" werewolf that I have a problem with.

The Howling...great flick. That film reinvented the werewolf genre.

Just saw the "She" episode of Angel last night and Angel at Cordelia's Party is the greatest scene I've seen so far in Angel and all seven seasons of Buffy!!!! :rollin
