Independence Day sequels

Apparently, there will be a two-part sequel to Independence Day. I read just a little about it...it was actually not the most recent of news...but it brought up a plot hole immediately.

Spoiler:

In 2 and 3, the aliens hit an Earth that is a little better prepared for an alien invasion because they are using the recovered alien technology. But the aliens come with a bigger, better-prepared invasion force.

The thing is...in the original...when the President got linked up to the alien via a mind probe, it was disclosed that the force that was originally attacking the Earth was comprised of the entire alien civilization...it was supposedly their nature to space-hop and consume planets...the quote was:

"I saw... its thoughts. I saw what they're planning to do. They're like locusts. They're moving from planet to planet... their whole civilization. After they've consumed every natural resource they move on... and we're next. Nuke 'em. Let's nuke the bastards."

No big deal, I am kind of glad there is a sequel coming out. I liked the movie.

I didn't like the original when it came out and would probably not watch the sequels. But damn if the original trailer wasn't one of the most effective trailers I had ever seen. Was pretty mind blowing seeing that at the theater at that time.

Actually it could simply be that other colonies of the aliens were hitting other planets elsewhere at the same time.

Yeah, the trailer got your butt in the seat. I remember people applauded when the aliens finally attacked and blew everything to hell.

As far as the will Smith thing, the movie was weak with or without him. Whether he's in the new ones or not ( and he will be, so forget it) it wont make a difference as far as quality goes. People love Will Smith so these sequels will do well.

It's not even close to being relevant these days. There really is only a short window to do a sequel, of course Aliens and T2 were brilliant anomaly's.
