How to color over a chrome sword?

I want to color over the mirror chrome swords to make them less chrome and more metal silver.
Any tips on what paint to use?

flat clear coat

Acrylic black, then wipe off, the residue will go into the tiny grains and give it a worn steel effect.

I agree with Robbie; just apply a non-gloss clear coat. You'll maintain the silver color but the shininess of the chrome will be eliminated.
