No stands. Just put a tiny bit of blu-tac in the ball and socket joint most figures have at the ankle, and they're not going anywhere once you pose them.
 
I have had quite a few damaged figures over the years due to lack of stands. I do not like the way they look, but I will use them for safety more often than not these days. I go for the clear "invisible" stands usually over anything branded
 
Almost always stands. A couple exceptions on shelves that I’m running out of room on and I don’t display my EXO-6 Star Trek figures on stands because they’re large and oddly shaped.
 
Not only do I use stands, I generally quite like them. Keep in mind these are dolls. Not action figures. If you want serious dynamic posing, find the appropriate stand.

But for Gawd sakes don't put your $250-$400 figure on the shelf without support. Just my opinion.
