Tempted but I have a hard time biting on Troopers at this price. If I'm paying this sort of price I'd rather it go towards a main character. Granted this does have more going on than a typical Trooper so I can see where the price is kind of justified.

I like the new designs and have no problem with how the fit into the rest of the SW world. But I want to see the movie first, which I'm looking forward to, and see how I like the characters before I commit to buying them.

It's interesting that it seems that his tall height is a specific characteristic--like, only people 6'4" and up can apply for the position!

From a pure design point of view I read somewhere the death troopers were taken from an original Ralf Macquarie design for stormtroopers that were tall and thin. Hence the inspiration for the tallness.

As for the lore of why they are chosen as tall etc I guess we'll have to wait for the movie. Or it'll be left as one of those mysteries to be discussed/speculated on in forums......

Perhaps the Death Troopers are clones? Palpatine used Jango Fett as the DNA source for the prequel troopers, so perhaps the Death Troopers use Anakin's DNA. It would make sense for Palpatine to duplicate his most prized "lethal weapon". It could explain why Vader greebles are being used in the Death Trooper design, and why they are taller than a Stormtrooper.

I don't think they are. In canon, the Empire quickly phases out clones in favour of recruits shortly after the end of the Clone Wars.

You can be sure there will be a Rogue One regular trooper, but keep in mind that there are subtle (or not) differences in the design from the ANH troopers. Also HT teased a Return of the Jedi trooper at one of the shows, so that will probably show up at some point.

I just preordered from Goodshipped in HK on eBay. $248.88, arrives in mid to late October. It is cheaper than Sideshow (when including shipping cost), and will arrive faster.

Ok quick newbie question: When I first saw the trailer I thought this guy was a Shadow Trooper? Is it a shadow trooper in the trailer or a Death Trooper?

And what is the difference? What did Death Troopers and Shadow Troopers do? How did they differ from regular Troopers?

Shadow troopers haven't been used in the movies. This will be the first film with Death troopers.

I'm not a details guy so I don't mind if there are subtle differences. I just need something that looks like the OT trooper to go in my "trooper evolution" display. Original trilogy trooper is all I am missing.

Death Troopers specialize in death. Shadow Troopers specialize in Shadows. Shock Troopers shock people. Jump Troopers jump. Stormtroopers and Snowtroopers are basically meteorologists for the Empire.
