man, those custom hands really make such a huge improvement on this figure. It's really the only thing I would bother to change on mine if i had the time & talent to do it. Awesome job man, on all the work youve done - not just the hands!

There are several mods that bring the already decent sculpt, to near perfection. Most of these mods require removing the dome, and prying the mask apart.

It's a very stressful and time consuming process, but extremely worth it.

Awesome thanks, any good before and after shots out there?

WTC, great work on those gloves.

Here is my kitbashed Vader. I have done the helmet mod, brown lense mod, repaint of chest armor and weathering of chest, belt boxes.

I see that, now. :) Thanks.

Chakaman, you should do the nose mod - it was surprisingly easy based on what TonTon did. I think it's the mod that makes the most difference to the mask, getting rid of that slight "button nose."

Yep, the mods that make the biggest difference in order (in my opinion)

1.) Nose recessed

2.) Dome lowered and moved forward.

3.) Eyes - something reflective behind lenses.

4.) Gloves & gauntlets

5.) Swap suit with SSC ANH Vader.

After that the law of diminishing returns gets more and more significant.

List saved!:lecture

To loosen the dome, you just hold, wiggle and "crack"?

I have the Dredd pleather gloves over bendy hands all ready to be modded.

The only issue with the SSC ANH suit is the quilt lines don't taper on the sleeves (the HT ones do,) but it's only noticeable when the arm is bent. I'm sticking with the HT one for now, but may do a very light brushing of matte clear to make it a touch less shiny.

Of course you had to put the nose mod first. Damn...

:rotfl :gah:

How do you keep the nameplates on the base from falling out? I have some that are pretty secure, and two that are really loose and keep falling off.

I did the "nose-mod". It is very simple, just as Ton-Ton and Talibane mentioned earlier. Just use a thin hobby knife and pry it loose from the sides, not the curved part. It comes out looking like this....

Here is a picture of it put back in place after I shortened it.
Unmodded on left, modded on the right.

My only question is, how much to shave off? Does this look okay? I am also thinking of painting the very outside trim of the plug black. What do you guys think?

Thanks again to everyone who is contributing to this thread.

Maybe it's the lighting, but I kind of like the unmodded one better in the pic, your modded nose looks strange..the nose area looks too thin now :dunno
