Alright, so a while back, I mentioned that I was going to be re-working a Hasbro Dengar and would make a thread documenting this.
I have started.

A while back, I found a set of Hasbro bounty hunters at my LCS, by the time I got paid, someone had made off with Zuckuss (to my dismay) but had left the rest.

I decided to re-do Dengar first.

First, I did the old boil and pop method to remove the head from the body, I went ahead and did the hands too since I figured I'd need a little reference later on.
I selected a spare body to use. It may not be permanent, but I'm wanting to try a few things out. The body is from the Hasbro Indiana Jones line, specifically the Mutt Williams one with the floppy joints tightened up.

For some reason, removing the armor and clothing was NOT an easy task.
In my case, the backpack/chest armor was GLUED on in the back and as you can see, I had to cut two of the straps.

His weapon (should you decide to keep it) has a funky handle.

Which is easily fixed or at least made useable

Since Hasbro hands are crap and these will be covered by gloves anyway, I decided to alter the hasbro ones a bit.

here they are on the body (they ARE removeable)

After I closed up the forearm armors, using superglue and strong thread, I tested out the uniform on him.

I have been attempting to make him gloves but after I sew them, I cannot easily get them to turn inside out (or is that the other way about?)

So I'm still trying to sort out the gloves and I still need to repair or replace the cut straps but hes progressing nicely I think

once I get everything else taken care of, I'll repaint the head and possibly look into a better body although I may just stick with this one since I don't plan on moving him around much.

Nice work thus far, but is it just me or is the worst thing about the hasbro figure the head? one day I'd like to see a customizer take that on and do real cloth wrapping.

try this for reversing the gloves after sewing.

using a toothpick or rod, push the fingers into the inside of the glove. you have to do it very slowly and push hard since the hole to flip them is so narrow.
then reverse the rest of the glove.

yeah, I have a spare head that I'm tempted to switch over and do that with instead of using this one. I did some video reviews of a couple of figures last night and here is Dengar in the background with his HUGE melon head :p

BTW, thanks for the advice on the gloves, I'll try that when I make my next pair.

Woow these are all great. I love the cloth mooncat! I wanted to do the same for mine and my tuskien raider.
Did you just use any old cloth?

Right I have started mine at last.
The first thing I thought I would try is this head painting stuff. I have never painted up a head before, only weather droids and and made things look dirty.
Well this head painting stuff is chuffin hard and I have a lot to learn but I am in no hurry.

I have cut down one of the shoulder pads and tightened up the forearm.

Still plenty to do. If any folks have tips on painting faces then I would love to hear them :)

sorry the pic does not really look like I have painting it because of the light. i will try to take some more at some stage.

LOL like your van Mooncat... Is it full of poop? LOL

Want to know a lot more about painting heads. Think it would be fun, and good for me as I just can't afford any more dollies LOL

lol you guys are hilarious :D
Painting heads isn't TOO difficult. I'm no master but I have managed to pick up a few things here and there. I went ahead and used one of my first test-paint heads to test out how he would look with actual cloth wrappings and a more to scale head. I used super-glue and baking soda to create a scarred effect on his cheek. I'll probably play with that more later before I re-paint it.

of course, it will STILL need to be re-painted, but I'm liking how it looks so far, even though he reminds me more of Lawrence of Arabia lol.
