I always had a sweet spot for the hasbro 12 boba fett and thought at the time it was the best figure I had back in 2004, before the dark times, before sideshow and hot toys. Toys were affordable and every now and then a really nice collectible came out of nowhere. This was my opinion of the 12" Boba Fett from the orginal trilogy collection of figures. I had him for years and then one day I decided I would take that old figure and update him using as much hasbro parts as I could, and tried very hard to stay away from hot toys parts or sideshow parts as they are abundant and easy. I really wanted to make this a good upgrade with as many original parts as I could use...though admittedly I had to cheat, I ended up using a sideshow blaster rifle and pistol. the alternatives were just crappy in my eyes, but the sideshow blaster had a custom strap made for it.

So here are the pictures and everything I did from top to bottom.

Used a modified jango fett hasbro head
cut the inside of the helmet out so that the head can fit inside easily.
modded the ranger finder with another Tomy boba fett helmet that was almost 1/6 scale.
touched up the paint and weathering on the helmet a bit.
used the hasbro body and HIGHLY modified it to give it better proportions but also better articulation
added a set of medicom wookie braids
added a marmit cloth cape
added slightly more battle damage to chest section and backpack section.
tightened the chest vest
glued the jet pack on so it would stop falling off
added paint and weathering to the gauntlets and gloves.
made a device for the side of the left gauntlet that looked similar enough to the one he actually had and not the silly looking original one.
added a better wire/ hose to the right gauntlet
repainted the belt and the sash below it
repainted and weathered the hasbro tools, and used a marmit tool too in order to fill the pouches, I also painted that one.
used medicom feet and pegs from an old anakin figure
used marmit boots that I modified to fit better.

That's about it. Let me know what you all think. i MADE A PRETTY GOOD FIGURE FROM SCRAPS AND LOW COST PARTS i HAD LAYING AROUND HERE. I'm fairly happy with him, and although he is nowhere near sideshow or hot toys quality he is still special to me as he was one of my very first " high end" figures.

Thank you guys for the kind words. I just wanted to see if i could make a decent boba fett using the hasbro figure as a base to start.

I think you did a great job! Nice to see people using their talent, and not just falling back on all the big companies parts floating around.
Did you take any pic's of the body mods you made? Would like to see what you did..

Sadly I didn?t take any in that stage. I really wish I had. I nodded the shoulders the elbows the forearms and hands and the lower part of the legs and feet. I actually put a ton of work into it and didn?t think to document it as I went. But if you ever need any help modding I?ll help you to do what I did.

Very nice custom!

Does anyone know where I can get a 1/6 scale light blue jumpsuit that works for a custom Boba? It doesn't need to be the exact sewing pattern, as I want to make retro-custom out of the old 12" Kenner Collector's Series release.
