Ugh, more animated ^^^^. Hasn't GG learned that no one wants this ^^^^. How the ^^^^ is that company still in business?

:lecture:lecture:lecture Quoted for truth. I don't get it, either.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I don't like a lot of GG practices when it comes to exclusives, etc., but I am a fan of the animated style of maquettes. Mainly because they come from the same 'feel' as the original Gendy Tartatovsky Clone Wars cartoons, and I like that they do OT figures like this. They're whimsical in the way that the Electric Tiki "TOONED-UP" maquettes are (like the Buffy stuff SS sells through their site).

They also remind me of the style of 'cartoony' illustrations done by some of the best guys in the biz who contribute to sketch cards for sets like SW, Indy, LOTR, Marvel, etc. like Grant Gould, Otis Frampton, Patrick Schoenmaker, etc., but in 3D form, which I think is fun!

They also look GREAT with the ACME 'Character Keys' displayed with them.

I can understand how they aren't everyone's bag, but I have all the POTC, LOTR and most of the SW OT animated maquettes, and I really like 'em. I still hope they do an Indiana Jones maquette to match the character key. That would be way cool...

Im not into the animated stuff but I kinda dig this. I wish it was a little bigger than 10" though....

Even though GG mentioned Indy maquettes at one time, I don't think they are on their radar any longer. There is a GG rep. posting on Rebelscum now who mentioned that there are no Indy maquettes in the works at this time. I take that to read that aspect of the license has been dropped.

As far as this maquette, I like it. But I've decided not to buy it.

I have all of the LOTR animated maquettes (admittedly, this is mostly because they were being sold at bargain basement prices). But it's really too bad that they never got around to doing, say, Sam and Frodo. The collection seems incomplete without them.

Agreed. I love these pieces too. I think they should have at least given us a Frodo/Sam 2 piece (like the Yoda/R2-D2 piece) and an Aragorn to go with Legolas and Gimli. It does seem incomplete without them and I figure a lot of people who would think of dumping them would do it because those figures are missing from the line. I mean, as cool as the twilight ringwraith is, how could you do that guy that only shows up here and there in the films, and skip Aragorn and Frodo??? Doesn't make much sense. :angelsmil

At least with the POTC line of maquette's, they gave us all the main guys (Jack, Will, Liz and Barbossa, plus Davy Jones)...I have all of those too, and at least THAT line looks complete enough having been stopped there.

...The same rep also mentioned that aproximately 3 more maquettes will be announced soon.

Well, there's been a lot of suspicion around one of them being a WICKET maquette as it was mentioned a while back that one would be a 'furry' character from ROTJ. As for the other 2, well, this is the year of ESB for GG...and the Boba/Han Carbonite maquette fits that. I would love to see a Cloud City Lando...with Lobot would be even cooler! I also still think they need to give us a more 'classic Luke'...Either Farmboy from ANH, or Jedi from ROTJ. Or, if it is ESB this year...how about a 2 piece Luke Bespin dueling Vader on the gantry. That would be AWESOME!!! :rock

I hope for more stand alone pieces to round up the collection and less "scenes". I would love a Lando, Jedi Luke or Imperial Guard.

Personally, I kinda like the scenes...but stand alone's are great too! They can be positioned into whatever scene you want (right now I have Obi-Wan posed as though he's dueling Darth Vader in ANH).

Poor Lando gets no collectible loving. :(

Too true. I would love to see ESB Lando in animated maquette form, 1/6 SS and PF format this year! :rock

2009 - THE YEAR OF "Cool Colt 45" Lando Calrissian :rock

Yes i love this design and i think Lucas Film should do a animated series on bounty hunters and etc in this style. And most of all a Indiana Jones series would be great think of all the half hour adventures and to be continued eps they could have.!!
